About me
I would like to give you a brief description of myself as a therapist and the nature of the therapy that I provide.
It is also my intent to help you understand the therapeutic relationship so that you might fully understand the services you
will be receiving. I have a master’s degree in Social Work from Walla Walla University. I am a Licensed Clinical Therapist in Washington, California, North Carolina, and New Mexico. I have 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist, and have trained in several treatment modalities.
I work from an integrative perspective, emphasizing the therapeutic relationship and cognitive-behavioral techniques. My approach involves getting a clear sense of my clients’ main goals, and then matching therapeutic techniques to best fit these goals. Most importantly, I always work with you to figure out what approach you’ll respond to best and what makes the most sense specifically for you.
I have worked extensively with the military and the special operations community. I have also lived and worked with many Native Tribes throughout North America. I am a certified yoga/meditation instructor, as well as a trainer on the seminar circuit for the integration of Holistic Treatment in Healthcare. Most importantly though, I believe in humanity’s natural gravitation towards healing and growth.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Yonna Swingholm. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Yonna has done a wonderful job working with my teen daughter over the last year. I'm so thankful for her and the connection and trust she has built with my kid. She has really come to her own with self compassion and confidence.
She is very nice, helpful, and insightful.
Hands down best, kindest therapist!
Yonna so far has been very understanding and objective. I’m not one to open up easily, but she makes it easy.
My husband did not want therapy. He did it for me. Yonna got him to open up and it is already helping us so much after only two sessions. I also really appreciate that she gives both of us things to work on. She sees both sides and is helping us to understand eachother. She is tough and real. It is exactly what we needed.
Yonna really helped me navigate some important issues with family and relationships. She provided useful tools and insights from a different lens in a kind and caring manner. I recommend.
Yonna has been an excellent help. Great therapist, I highly recommend.
Yonna is great at listening and providing feedback. She has offered insights that have been accurate and kind.
I am SO thankful for finding someone who is available to offer help. All local therapist are not accepting new patients because they are so overloaded! Yonna has been a God send! Thank you Yonna!
Yonna is helping us first identify our issues so we can do our best to work on them while being realistic at the very steep uphill battle we face.
It felt especially comforting to know I was specifically picked out by her due to the combination of my history, essay and listed issues. The sessions few as they can often feel at times have been of help each time and I have a bit of hope for my self thanks to them.
