About me

Hello, I’m Whitney Thompson and thank you for finding me today. Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I began working with kiddos on the spectrum upon graduation from Penn State University in 2010. I never imagined fast forward 5 years later I would give birth to my first born son who is also on the spectrum. I ended up back in the field of Autism and ADD/ADHD but with a new found respect. My masters program led me through clinical experience of addiction. My experience working with kiddos and also individuals suffering addiction has allowed me to focus on familial relationships as well. I love seeing each individual for who they truly are and not being defined by anything on the outside. I don’t believe in stigmas and have a real respect for the true self. I find a safe space free from any judgement for any and all individuals.

Whitney Thompson is such a relatable and compassionate therapist who offers fantastic insights. She also fully understands my ADHD brain and my need for external processing (lots and lots of chatting and seemingly unrelated tangents that DO relate somehow LOL!). I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an expert teammate in navigating mental health issues!!

Whitney and I have had one video session so far and have been messaging back and forth since, she is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve been in and out of therapy for about six years, although we’ve only had one session, I’ve clicked with her better than any other therapist I’ve had. She makes exploring new tools and coping mechanisms less intimidating and offers relatable perspective on issues! Highly recommend!

Here’s the thing: I’ve had bad experiences with therapy in the past. Whitney has changed my view of therapy completely. I feel heard, understood, pushed but not judged and most of all she is just a joy to talk to. I am generally the therapist for all my friends and family so it’s nice to have the roles reversed for a change. Whitney is the second therapist I’ve tried through teencounseling.com. The first was not a good fit for me. It was so easy to switch and immediately things clicked with me and Whitney. If you are looking for an open-minded, supportive therapist who is ready to figure out your needs and be by your side as you reach your emotional or mental goals, she’s your gal!

In my short time with Whitney, she’s been amazingly compassionate, caring, and laid-back (in a professional, but open way). I appreciate how accessible and accommodating she is and I suggest her to anyone looking to start therapy.

I've only had two sessions with Whitney Thompson, but so far I'm really enjoying meeting with her every week. The first appointment she asked what works best for me and I could tell she took the into account at our next session. Overall great experience so far.

Work with me!
