About me

Hello and welcome to BetterHelp!

My name is Whitney, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with years of experience in many different areas. I have worked closely with clients to help them process and overcome trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, attachment, ADHD, family concerns, parenting, self-esteem and more. I have gained experience in these areas through working with clients in multiple settings to include; community mental health agencies, child and adolescent crisis stabilization facility, college counseling department and work in the school system (middle and high school). I am now in private practice using all the experience gained to continue helping clients on their journey of growth and healing.

I received my undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University and my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Savannah State University. I had the opportunity to work with and learn from amazing and eclectic mentors and professors during my studies and internships. Throughout that time I learned a variety of skills and therapy interventions. Staying up to date on the latest research and techniques is an important part of my practice to ensure that I am providing the best evidence based methods possible.

Life can get bumpy during times of transition, school, changes and more. No ones life is cookie cutter and neither should your therapy experience should be. I have worked with many different children and teens from all walks of life and in varying circumstances. There are times when our circumstances seem so challenging that no one could possibly understand or help. During those times, we are often in need more than ever of a safe and authentic human connection to overcome some of those difficult moments. Through my experience, I have learned that the relationship and connection that comes from therapy is like no other. It can help or hinder a persons healing and growth. It is my honor to help those who are willing to take that first step and allow me to become apart of their journey.

Working in collaboration with my clients and their families we create goals that are meaningful and realistic. Together we will use a variety of evidence based interventions to create a space for healing and growth. I would be honored to help you live a life full of joy and satisfaction.

I think Whitney is a great counsellor and really works well with difficult situations and will work with both the parents and teenager to get to the core of the problems. She also seems to genuinely care about her patients and wants to make sure she is really prepared for every session so we get her full attention to the issues discussed. I would highly recommend her to family and friends or anyone seeking help with their teenagers.

Whitney was my first intro into therapy, and she quickly established rapport, and ease to make my therapy experience enjoyable and not full of anxiety. She has provided helpful tools to combat my cycles of anxiety, and walks them through with me while I live it out. I've recommended many people to teen counseling because of Whitney's exceptional work!

Whitney is very easy to relate to. When I had my first ever counselling session with her I was very nervous but within a few minutes all my nerves were gone. Whitney made me feel unexpectedly at ease talking about very difficult unspoken issues I had feared. After four sessions and a number of messages back and forth at difficult times I am beginning to have confidence to deal with some very difficult events. Still a long way to go but Whitney has been invaluable to me over the past month and I will be seeking help from her for a while yet. I cannot recommend Whitney enough.
