About me

I have had 40 years of experience providing counseling services to adults and children. I currently provide services for our local school district as a special education counselor, working with students dealing with emotional disturbance, autism and ADHD. I thoroughly enjoy working with youth and since I provide counseling services to students from K-12, I have experience with issues teens deal with in these challenging times. My initial goal is to develop a positive therapeutic relationship with my client and help them to make effective, positive choices in their life. I believe children are one of our most precious responsibilities and I support healthy family dynamics and positive growth. My style is non-confrontational but challenging; challenging the client to self-manage their emotions and behaviors. I am non-judgmental and do not criticize their lack of success but reinforce and encourage forward progress. I am comfortable working with children from early elementary through high school and post graduation.

I have also had a great deal of experience helping children recover from abuse and trauma. I have provided counseling for Child Protective Services and have helped many victims of physical/sexual abuse move forward from victim to survivor. Children should always be safe and protected!!!

Thomas is truly a treasure to find and work with. In fact, in our cumulative 6 months or so time using this app and switching counselors, we have never found anyone as great as Thomas. He is able to get to the root of the issue quick and he’s very gentle in his approach. We are staying with him as long as we use this and he is available.

My husband and I have been working with Mr. Slough for a couple weeks now and I have really enjoyed his counseling so far!
