About me
Hi, my name is Sheryl Derby, LCSW. I achieved my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies. I also possess a Master of Social Work with a Child Welfare emphasis from Arizona State University. I have been a Licensed Independent Social Worker for 17 years and have been providing clinical supervision for 17 years.
I have provided therapy to children, adolscents, adults and families. I have expertise in depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships and parenting issues. Some of the populations I have worked with include Veterans, families involved in the child welfare system, juveniles involved in the court system and homeless families .
My purpose is to assist you in achieving your goals in order to help you live a happier, peaceful life. Together we will identify your strengths and find coping skills that are the best fit for you. My style is eclectic, based on your needs, combining guided imagery and cognitive-behavioral therapy while utilizing a strength-based, solution-focused approach.
When not working, I practice self-care by spending time with my basset hounds, participating in yoga as well as volunteering at a retirement home for geriatric and hospice animals.
I look forward to supporting, guiding and empowering you.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Sheryl Derby. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
She is a great listener and knowledgeable
I’ve only been working with Sheryl for a few weeks but she’s great. I really like that she listens to me and let’s me figure out how I’m feeling instead of telling me what I’m feeling. Sheryl has these worksheet that she’s had me do and I honestly was worried that it would feel like “homework” but I’ve found them helpful. Sheryl is great and I’m glad that I got matched with her.
