About me
Hello!!! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Mississippi as well a National Certified Counselor with over 13 years experience in providing individual, family and group counseling. I have experience working with clients ages 3 to adulthood with a multitude of presenting issues such as developmental delays, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, anger management, life changes, self esteem and identify issues as well as relationship and family issues. I have also worked in many different counseling settings and have experience working with culturally diverse clients.
My counseling style is warm, and emphatic, it is influenced by Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). My approach combines client centered therapy and structured family therapy along with goal oriented, and solution focused therapy to highlight ones strengths to help my client become the best version of themselves and do so authentically. I believe everyone is unique and should have a unique counseling experience tailored to them where they can work through life’s challenges. You are the expert on your life, I am simply here to encourage, and support you from a respectful and nonjudgmental perspective.
I have worked with teens and adolescents for more than 12 years, I have worked with many different issues that teens face such as self esteem, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, loss, identity concerns, as well as autism, ADHD, those with dual diagnosis, and other issues. I have attended several IEP meetings and worked with you returning home from inpatient care. I have worked as a mentor to young girls and athletes in general as I was a high school and college athlete. I also have experience working with youth in foster care, in CPS custody and those involved in the Juvenile Justice System.
I hope you will allow me to be your therapist to help you and your teen work through the things you have going on. I am eager to help you and your teen achieve the goals you have determined that are most important to you.
It takes courage to reach out and I am here to provide you with the safe space you need to be vulnerable and to begin to heal.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Shannon Lloyd. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Shannon is always attentive and supportive. She has really helped me learn how to advocate for myself, and I'm so grateful!
She is amazing!
I greatly appreciate Shannon’s encouragement and guidance for things like coping skills. I have been able to put in the work as guided, and I am doing much better.
She's just fantastic! Very level headed and offers great advice as well as a kind ear ♡
She is the best
Shannon is a fantastic therapist. I feel that she listens, cares, and importantly wants to help people.
Shannon is a great listener. Provides healthy guidance and support. She is consistent in her approach. She has a good sense of humor, and a high level of skill.
Shannon is incredibly thoughtful, a great listener, and has offered me practical and easy to implement strategies that have greatly reduced my anxiety. I absolutely love working with her and would highly recommend her and her approach if you get the opportunity to work with her. Thank you for all you’ve done for me, Shannon!
Shannon is a great therapist and really listens to my concerns. It’s been about a year now and she has provided actionable steps for obstacles I have dealt with my self confidence, my family and general outlook. It’s easy to talk to her and feel seen/heard at a flexible schedule with my work.
Shannon is a wonderful support system to help you determine your next steps to move forward in your life! God bless her.
She is good at providing a different perspective and making you feel better.
I've been working with Shannon for over a year now. Shannon has helped me so much with learning to navigate depression, the consequences and symptoms of it, I truly don't know where to begin. She is able to connect with you on a human level, while guiding you to unknot your thoughts/feelings so you process things more logically. She has given me practical steps to manage all different situations, guidance to process things better mentally and emotionally, advice and tools now to to learn to build back my confidence and make better decisions in order to create long lasting habits. I feel I am getting there. I truly know that I wouldn't have been able to overcome dozens of situations if it wasnt for the work Ive been doing with Shannon. I truly appreciate what she does and I always talk about teencounseling.com because of my work with her! So internally grateful I got matched with her <3
Amazing! The best therapist, she’s a great listener, and makes you feel very comfortable.
As with anyone, I was unsure at first because I have trust issues but within a few session I was able to open up and speak more freely which was liberating. I feel listened to, and I feel cared for.
Shannon comes into every session with a positive, caring, and supportive energy and is very easy to talk to. I’m very grateful to have been matched up with her and am excited to talk to her every time!
Shannon has been a tremendous help and I am so happy to have found her.
Shannon has been the biggest support to me through a really difficult time. Her patience empathy and understanding about the complexities of life makes her the amazing therapist that she is. Her approach is warm and supportive whilst direct in ways that makes one reflect on their current situation and behaviour. I could not recommend Shannon enough in her field. She is an amazing therapist and the impact it has had on my life situation is phenomenal. 10/10 ☺️
Shannon is equal parts empathetic and motivating and I’m thankful she’s here to help.
i felt heard and very welcomed. She listens to me and made me feel good and proud of who I was and how I dealt with things.

Shannon is compassionate and supportive. She has helped me grow and keep perspective
She’s awesome!
Shannon seems like a lovely person and most importantly I feel incredibly comfortable talking to her. We are just getting started but I have already found our chats very useful. I look forward to how we continue in the future.
To get the most out of teencounseling.com, I would like to use the messaging more in between our weekly call, but our time difference doesn't match up well. Still I will continue to use the journalling section and as we move forward hope to get more advice or goals for the days I struggle.
Thanks, Shannon!
She is amazing, patient, and has a good nature. I don’t feel like just one of her patients
Shannon is very generous and understanding. She understands even getting to therapy is hard and doesn’t put you down for that. She is extremely insightful and thought evoking even after just one session. She truly cares and it shows by the mid week messages. She is truly here to listen and is extremely not judgemental.
She’s very kind and straight forward
