Sally Herschman

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois with over 12 years of experience working with young children, adolescents, adults and families. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including abuse, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and relationship challenges. One of my favorite populations to work with is young people between the ages of 13 and 19 years old.

The skills I developed in my years of work in community counseling and Child Welfare allow me to provide authentic emotional support to teens while helping them build confidence in their developing self! While a young person is figuring out how to be an adolescent and young adult (increasing their independence and autonomy), they still rely on their caregivers and parents for so much. I believe the most important relationship is between you and your teen - I see myself as a bridge to help the two of you reestablish, strengthen or find that connection.

My practice style is warm and compassionate, and one of my specialties is engaging the "hard to engage" client.

I would love the opportunity to talk with you and your teen and learn more about what is going on and how I can help.

We've only had a chance to meet with Sally two times, but so far she seems amazing. I can tell she's really listening and wanting to offer any help she can.

Sally has been a wonderful counselor. She listens, asks questions that make me reflect and always gives me tools to use throughout the week for support.
