About me
Greetings and welcome! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 10 years of licensed experience and 18 years of experience in the mental health profession. My educational background focused on majoring in Psychology as undergraduate and Community Counseling as a graduate student. My experience background ranges from in-patient and outpatient treatment, acute care facilities, working in the K-12 grade school setting, and adult counseling in different mental health programs. I have a history of providing group and individual therapy for children and adults that address issues of concern such as self-esteem, stress, loss, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, family conflicts and concerns, trauma, grief, so on and so forth.
I have a strong passion for mental health and mental health awareness. I truly believe that we all need to take care of our mental well-being just as well as we need to take care of our physical. My approach to therapy is a genuine one. Empathy, understanding, concern, helping others, aren't just words to me, I try to live those words every day of my life, because I truly believe in them. I like to believe that tactful honesty, positivity, and at times humor, are very important as navigational tools in the art of therapy. And with those tools, I try to help guide my clients in a direction that will help them achieve their personal goals of self-healing and growth.
I have been working with youth of different backgrounds for 17 years or so. I truly believe that we should respect them for where they are mentally and emotionally, no matter how short of a time they have been on this Earth. Their feelings and perspectives on life should respect to the utmost, like it would anyone else young or older. I believe that meeting them where they are, planting mental seeds of positivity and encouragement and just giving them the respect of genuine active listening; can truly help them as the find their way into becoming the adult that want to be.
Making the decision to invest in a better you through the assistance of therapy is a very significant and courageous one. And I look forward to being someone that can help you on this personal journey of self-love, improvement, and growth!

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Preston Johnson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Preston is nothing short of an amazingly, gifted therapist who really cares about his clients.
Good listener!
Very friendly and easy to talk to. He has been very helpful in guiding my husband in I our communication.
I like how my therapist, creates a sense of purpose within myself. He empowers me with the proper tools & strategies to cope with life. This has truly been impactful and empowering. Who knew therapy wasn’t just about discussing your emotions but finding and applying strategies that will allow one to become their BEST SELF!
