About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois and Missouri. I graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 2016, and have been working with a variety of clients and issues. I live and work in Alton, Illinois, about 30 miles north of St. Louis on the Mississippi River.
My treatment approach is client-centered, goal-oriented, collaborative, and strengths-based. I believe that most mental health issues can be traced back to trauma; it’s not what is wrong with you, but what has happened to you. I use CBT and EMDR as my main therapy modalities, but also incorporate somatic processing, motivational interviewing, exposure therapy, and positive psychology. Once the negative beliefs are identified, the work is to create more adaptive beliefs, and process the actual traumas. Self-care, and coping skills for symptoms are extremely important, too, especially in the beginning of therapy.
I am affirming, and believe that people get to decide who they are. I also believe that growth and evolution are inherent in our human nature.
Reaching out for help with life’s challenges is one of the most important things one can do for their long-term health and well-being. I walk with you, never judging, and always supporting you with your goals. I look forward to helping you find relief from symptoms, needed solutions, and ultimately, true healing.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Paula Moore. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Paula does a great job of making me feel comfortable and heard. She’s able to help me look at things from different perspectives without making me feel judged. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for some help sorting things out.
Paula is very good at following up.
Very happy so far
Paula is incredibly understanding and supportive. She creates such an amazing space to share and be heard. Her energy, even virtually received, is soothing and her attitude and poise is so authentic. I’ve never had a therapist like her.
Paula has been amazing! She really connects and listens to what we're discussing. She's been very helpful with tips and helping me through the motions. Very much appreciate our talks.
Paula is great, professional, patient and kind. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with her!
She gives me the courage to face myself.
Very comfortable working with Paula
Paula is very calm, soothing and understanding. She's also very reassuring and validating. She uses recommended techniques for my treatment and I have full trust in her abilities to be my therapist.
Working with Paula has made a huge difference in my mental wellbeing. She is a calm, comforting, and knowledgable therapist and coach. I really love working with her.
Paula is so lovely, I couldn’t ask for anyone better! she is so patient, calming, wonderful and just has an amazing aurora about her, i feel so safe with her and trust her so much!
Great communicatir
Therapy takes time! Paula listens and challenges me but then she wants me to sooth the trigger. She seem to recognize an over reaction of the nervous system under pressure. I mean I just want to get a job without shame on my disability.
Thanks so much again for your support over the past few months Paula, you have been a great support to me and really got me thinking about things in a different way. I feel like I have had a gradual 'lightbulb' moment over the course of our sessions.. really thinking about why I have been feeling the way I have been.. and I feel a lot more at peace in myself now than I did before our sessions. So really, thank you so much you have helped me so much. Look after yourself and should I feel I need therapy again in the future, I will be straight back to you!
When you think of an ideal therapist, Paula fits that archetype to a t! Kind, caring, knowledgeable on multiple issues, and effective with coming up with a game plan to get you out of your “rut”. Paula’s can do attitude gets me motivated and has me look forward to every interaction! Blessed to have her as my therapist.
Paula is fantastic.
Paula is wonderful! She listens supportively, offers an empathic perspective, and is also able to gently call out patterns and perspectives that are problematic to help you find your way out of circumstances that are no longer serving you. I’m so grateful for her!!
Paula is such a wonderful therapist, and a great, caring individual. She reassures me, no feeling or thought I have is strange to her. The EMDR sessions are tough, but she gets me through them each time. She keeps track on me during the sessions, asks me how I'm doing, and she can tell when I need a little break. This past year I have come so far, my panic attacks went from occuring almost every day to (nearly) gone. Not there yet with healing my trauma, but with Paula in my corner I am sure I can get there.
I would 100% recommend her!
