About me
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California, with over 10 years of experience working as a residential counselor, case manager, and therapist. I have experience working in varied settings including group homes, crisis residential, custody, elementary and high school, and private practice. My experience with teenagers has been in drug/alcohol group homes, school counseling, and private practice setting. I find it refreshing to work with teenagers as they are developing their own identity and working through challenges. I enjoy working with teens and meeting them where they are, to achieve the goals they have in therapy. I enjoy working within a teen's family, however I believe it is important to remember that the teen is my primary client. I have supported teens and their families through a variety of issues including abuse, adjustments, addiction, self-harming behavior, depression, anxiety, social anxiety, mental illness, interpersonal relationships, family relationships, divorce, academic stressors, peer pressure, and trauma.
I like to integrate different therapy and treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, reality therapy, meditation and mindfulness, expressive arts, attachment, and Solution-Focused therapy. My counseling style is warm, open, supportive, and meeting the client where they are at to then reach the goals they have in therapy. I like to know how my client feels most comfortable expressing themselves, whether it be through art expression, verbally, visually, or other means.
My Educational Credentials include:
-Western Seminary, Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy, and Certificate in Addiction Studies
-Licensed by State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences
-Olivet Nazarene University, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
I look forward to working with you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Pamela Tanis. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Pamela has helped me out through the toughest year of my life. She has helped me identify issues and their origins. We have worked together to help me find what I value and set goals for many years to come. She has been so kind in the process and I would recommend her to anyone that is looking for some guidance in their lives.
Pamela has helped me overcome the situation I was struggling with. I am very thankful to have found her.
I look forward to my video calls with Pamela. She helps me feel heard and that my feelings are valid.
Pamela is great! She listens, communicates well and has your best interest in mind
