About me

Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile! This means that you are contemplating the beginning of your therapeutic journey, and this is a beautiful first step. I truly believe that ANYBODY can benefit from therapy no matter one's age, gender or race.

I received my Master's in counseling and psychological services from Saint Mary’s University. Since that time, I earned my Licensed professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Ohio. I have experience working for a community based agency, private practice, and school base counseling in which my case load was high school, middle school and elementary school age students. Out side of the counseling field I am a varsity football and track coach in the inner city, where I assume the role as mentor, and a positive male role model. In these roles I have come to learn that working with the families is just as important as the work done with the child. Working with children and teens is a passion of mine, and I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
I’m experienced in working with individuals and families. I also have experience serving diverse populations with a wide range of mental health concerns including; (anxiety, depression, etc.), cultural issues, addictions, life adjustments/transitions, trauma informed therapy, family conflict, and troubled parent child relationships, relationship issues, stress management, life transitions, grief and loss, addictions, parenting struggles, school challenges and conflicts, and ADHD. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

I believe in a person centered counseling approach where my clients are able to feel a sense of respect and autonomy. In addition, I utilize motivational interviewing skills, solution focused therapy, reality therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Your goals are what is important to me, and will be the foundation of our therapeutic journey together.

I understand that it can be difficult to ask for assistance and I recognize the courage that it takes. Therefore, My main goals are to meet you where you are at and work cooperatively with my clients to help them meet their goals. As well as to create a comfortable and safe space for you with no judgment. I'm here to support you along the way and help you to reach a state of relief from whatever your unique situation may be, and look forward to working with you. Please do not hesitate to contact me

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Otimbum Wilson. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.

Written on May 14, 2021 after therapy with Otimbum for 2 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, intimacy-related issues, self esteem, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue

Otimbum is a genuinely caring person. He is real and relatable. He listens, asks important questions and shares his life experience as well as professional advice. I've had difficulty finding talk therapy helpful in the past because I've felt judged and looked down on. Otimbum is easy to talk to, which makes even challenging suggestions easier to work through.

My son has a difficult time with opening up and discussing his problems. He was able to quickly establish trust and rapport with my son and engage him quickly to optimize his counseling time.
