I am a licensed psychotherapist and a substance abuse specialist with over 20 years of clinical experience in mental health and substance abuse treatment in outpatient and inpatient treatment settings. I am an experienced lecturer and mental health/substance abuse consultant that has conducted educational programs in treatment and educational settings. I am completed my doctoral work in education with a specialization in Counseling in the hope that I can become a better educator of mental health and substance abuse topics. I have worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital in a variety of settings for over 15 years.
I have been a middle school counselor previously and have consulted in independent private schools in the Baltimore area on substance abuse issues. When I have had a private practice I typically saw adolescents who where struggling with a combination of mental health and substance use issues.

Dr. Schweizer has been very accommodating and understanding with my son. I feel it is very hard to find a male therapist for teenage boys, and Dr. Schweizer has been able to help my son with coping and acceptance of the events from past and present. I would recommend Dr Schweizer.
Dr.Schweitzer has made me feel so comfortable. Even when I step away for a while he reaches out to make sure I’m okay and reassures me that he’s there for me. I finally feel like it’s working.
He is wonderful.
Dr Schweitzer is great and a competent clinician I would recommend him to a stranger or friend he responds to me and is very understanding
He is compassionate, pragmatic and very knowledgeable. I am very happy to be able to work with him.
I am new to seeking therapy but I have to say that this councillor has been great supporting me and helping me figure out my mind. He takes a lot of time and listens to your concerns and also has great ideas on where is you can feel better or work towards your goals. I would highly recommend him.
He’s amazing to speak to. Upfront and caring!
A really professional and qualified doctor really helpful. I looking forward to my session with doctor Schweitzer every time.
