About me
I am an individual and family therapist with 19 years of experience in this field and 13 years as a therapist. I have experience in many areas of mental health and family and social issues including, but not limited to: generalized anxiety disorder, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, PTSD, parenting problems, domestic violence, sexual assault, and trauma. I have some experience working with gender dysphoria. I have worked in the areas of domestic violence, sexual assault, at risk youth (alternative education and a residential program), therapy for child protective services cases, community mental health, state prison, private practice, and teaching (online and in person). I am working towards specializing in trauma. I have learned three different types of trauma therapies this past year (Brainspotting, CPT, and Accelerated Response Therapy) and am working on getting certified in all three. Each of these therapies has it's place in an individual's abiity to overcome trauma. However, I deal with more than just trauma and I have more tools (i.e., CBT, motivational interviewing, reality therapy, family systems therapy, and DBT - to name a few). My therapy style is warm, respectful and interactive. I believe therapy is individualized (every person is different with different needs) and the therapy styles. Hope, empowerment, a good relationship and education are things I feel are integral to a successful therapeutic experience. If you want to be heard, learn, and work towards bettering yourself, I am here to support and assist you in this endeavor. I look forward to meeting you.

Great person
Dr. Chovan has been knowledgeable, experienced and supportive. She responds quickly and always. We have been fortunate to have found her!
I find my sessions with Dr Chovan extremely helpful.
Dr. Chovan is super kind and understanding!
I consider myself very lucky to have come across her and have her support!
She helped me with my PTSD so much when no one else could. I didn’t think I would ever leave my apartment again before working with her. She taught me what I needed to do in order to get over that. I am forever grateful.
She understood me and didn’t make me feel like my fears were irrational or so nominal that they didn’t matter. She listened to me , validated me, and genuinely cared about my success.
Amazing! Dr. Chovan is very supportive and has such a wealth of information!
Listened well. Suggestions good.
Dr. Chovan is personable and kind, and she instantly creates a safe environment where I feel comfortable diving right in and talking about my issues.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide a review for Dr. Chovan. I have only had about a month's experience with her, however she dove in and got us on a path to get the most out of our of sessions together. Some exercises about Cognitive Dissonance and Schema were new to me and extremely enlightening. I came to trust her quickly and was enthusiastic about our work together. I would recommend her to anyone that has PTSD and Depression issues. She has cleared some of the fog surrounding a project I am working on and I feel I have a realistic regard for it now.
She is absolutely wonderful and helped me so much!!
I feel safe talking to her and she’s a great listener
Dr. Chovan is so incredibly patient and listens very well. She always makes the conversation extremely personal and makes you feel less like a patient and more like an individual. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a new therapist!
