About me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Connecticut with over 10 years of experience working as a Counselor. I have worked with adolescents (and their families) experiencing a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, challenges with learning and attitudes towards school. I have worked with adolescents experiencing challenges related to decision making, including coming up with personal boundaries and not only following family rules, from wearing bike helmets and checking in with parents when outside of the home, to making safe choices in the community and on social media and gaming. I've worked with many adolescent clients going through conflict with friends, siblings, as well as with peers outside their group of friends, as well as those feeling left out or bullied.
Some of my most meaningful work has involved assisting adolescents in learning how to ask for help and guidance, as well as developing closer relationships with parent(s). I have worked with many adolescents who expressed wanting a closer, more positive relationship with their parent(s) yet have not known how to express this. I have worked with many parent(s) experiencing difficulties and frustrations regarding communication and desired more positive, meaningful interactions their adolescent children, but felt defeated.
Using an integrative approach respecting family culture and values, including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, mindfulness and emotional regulation approaches, I look forward to working with your child and your family. To adolescents reading my profile thinking about getting counseling, I am interested in helping you find ways to improve whatever it is you are dealing with.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Maureen Walsh. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Working with Maureen has been a godsend. She has helped me through things I didn’t even expect I would need counseling for. She’s been there for me when I needed objective advice, and she’s been there for me multiple times when I need support, day or night. I’m so impressed by her and very grateful to work with her.
Maureen is amazing at what she does. I've seen multiple different therapists, and I've grown more as a person with her in a fraction of the time I have with others. She has the perfect balance of being supportive and being devil's advocate. I would recommend her to anyone I know
Maureen is great.
She listens well and tries to understand exactly what's going on.
Maureen is extremely thoughtful, perceptive, and working with her has been incredibly helpful for me and my partner as we navigate early parenthood. Highly recommend.
She has been great and allows me to see things from a different point of view. I appreciate the transparency
Maureen has a great heart and calming presence. She really listens and acknowledged my struggles giving me some key tactics to help manage my anxiety. A great person!
I've had quite a bit of therapy throughout my life and Maureen is quite different from anyone I have seen previously. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I can talk to Maureen more like a friend than like a therapist.
Whatever the reason, Maureen seems to have penetrated my shell and somehow managed to see parts of me that even I can't see (good parts).
The other day, I was talking with a friend and I put it this way: once a week I get to be seen as a smart and overall good person. That's really rare for me and I think it's essential to my therapy.
Maureen has been very helpful and insightful in my therapy. And I appreciate her asking me questions that make sense for me.
She's amazing!!
Great!!
Actively listens to her client. Engages in reflective moments and genuinely tries to solve problems for you by providing the necessary tools.
Maureen is great, she always makes time for her clients. She is objective and provides soft guidance.
I’m very grateful to have been paired with a therapist that is so understanding and kind. She respects my boundaries and I feel so comfortable opening up when I need her.
Maureen is amazing and we feel so lucky to have found her. She really cares about the people she works with and it shows. Thank you for all your help.
Maureen has been a breath of fresh air as a therapist for me personally. Just through my initial message when we were matched she instantly caught on to the fact that I have trouble driving the conversation. And she has helped me to have talking points throughout our session and take pressure off of myself. She is thoughtful with her responses and extremely careful not to cross any lines I’m not ready to cross yet. I would recommend her to anyone seeking therapy
My first few sessions were helpful & positive. I felt like Maureen understood me and what I was experiencing. Over our time together, Maureen made a couple of comments that didn’t sit well with me, and were quite damaging. I do think Maureen’s heart was in the right place but her delivery was sometimes quite damaging. I sometimes felt that Maureen didn’t have time for me, and her calls were often muffled with lots of background noise. I hope she is doing well.
Maureen listens, is personable and understanding. She provides great insight and I’m glad we got paired with her!
Awesome
Maureen made me feel accepted and validated immediately. She is easy to talk to and very welcoming and listens to what you have to say. She can explain things clearly as well, helping me understand medical terms and how things work. I'm very grateful to have been matched with her.
I have been talking to Maureen for 3 weeks now. She has truly made a difference to me in that short amount of time. I feel heard, validated and supported. I would highly recommend Maureen.
So thankful we matched with her. She's insightful, smart and really down to earth. She's so kind and accommodating. My partner and I are really grateful and excited to continue the work. We've already made progress :) thank you!
Maureen is very professional in her approach and has made me feel very comfortable already. I don't feel that I need to hold back anything with her. I know it's the beginning for me but you know when you are going to click with someone and this is so important for me to be able to express my feelings. Its the first step to getting myself the help I need to overcome my past traumas and I look forward to my weekly sessions with Maureen.
