About me
I began my career with high school students in a church setting which I enjoyed, but realized that young people needed so much more for their social and emotional well-being than I knew at that time. This led me to pursue my Master's in Social Work from Aurora University and I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the past 21 years working with individuals, couples, families and adolescents. I am licensed in Illinois, Indiana and Montana.
Working with young people has always been a passion of mine as I see the importance of multiple positive influences as they develop and grow in a healthy manner. I have used Cognitive Behavior Therapy with young people as it helps them recognize their own strengths and develop healthy thought patterns. I also use Mindfulness Stress Reduction techniques with young people as school, sports, social lives and planning for the future can be overwhelming. Depending on the issue that is presented I also draw on other methods such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy and often use Expressive Art. I love to educate on the inner workings of the brain and how this effects their emotions and reactivity with family and friends.
I feel that I work well with parents, teachers and other health professionals that may be part of a young person's treatment, as I maintain the confidential relationship with young clients. I believe the family system is part of many issues that arise and is a very important part of any therapy that is to have lasting effects. I welcome any questions and input parents have along the way in their child's treatment.

Mary is the first therapist I and my daughters have ever worked with who we feel has been exactly what we needed. She listens, responds, helps us come up with plans of action. She’s understanding, not judgmental, kind, empathetic and helpful. I am so grateful we found her and will continue to work with her whenever we need the extra support of a therapist in our lives. Thank you Mary for all of your help and support!
Great therapist. Answers quickly and is always on time.
Mary has been really helpful, my husband and I feel real growth in our marriage.
Over the last 9 months Mary has helped me gain perspective and understanding. Her kind and guiding words have helped me toward being the mother I'd hoped I would be. She's down to earth and easy to talk to.
Mary helped me accept myself and find my center again.
Mary is compassionate and practical. She is efficient and has many tools to share to help me process different situations. She listens well and understands the root of what to start on and I appreciate that so much!
Mary is very personable and a great listener! She is funny and has a great sense of humor. I’m a pastor, and having someone who has been through many of the same experiences I have really helps me feel seen and understood.
Mary is professional and supportive in helping me work through current and past events in my life. I appreciate her recommendations for additional resources I can seek for further information or implementing in my daily life.
Mary Miller is by far the best, most understanding, attentive and compassionate therapist I have ever had. I question if I would even be alive if not for her.
She is so profesional and listening my all problem
Thank you
Mary is a wonderful, empathetic listener willing to give perspectives and other tools that help with processing events and thoughts in a manner that enables me to move forward. She has continuously provided follow up work sheets for me to continue working through my inner chatter, and improve my ability to recognize my feelings and be able to start responding and quit reacting.
She’s even reached out without a schedule appointment! Awesome
Mary has helped me with a multitude of things. My emotional state, mental state and how to deal with real life situations. She's been excellent to me and has helped me. I recommend her to anyone that is seeking a therapist who cares about you and is willing to listen and help you out!
Mary is so helpful — she’s really been helping me feel better about my life and the pandemic.
Mary is the first therapist that I have scheduled with my entire life. She listens to what I have to say and responds quickly. I'm lucky enough to find a therapist that I can confide in and not judge me too harshly. Thank you Mary
Mary has helped me examine important areas of my life by listening and asking questions. Very knowledgeable and calming professional. I can’t think of what more someone would want from a therapist. Highly recommend

This is the first time I have tried therapy and it has been very helpful, especially with recent events that have happened in my life.
I had something I was ashamed to talk about but Mary made it so easy to say how I felt and what I was going through
Mary is compassionate and strong and she knows her stuff. A great listener with great suggestions. We are very connected
She has been great at listening and helping me understand how to better deal with my emotions and stress and how to focus on the positives instead of the negatives. She helps me to better put things into prospective which I really appreciate!
Mary is such a gem. Having seen therapists for the majority of my life, I’d have to say she’s easily been the best. Very patient, understanding, and knowledgeable. Listens to both sides of the story and always has thoughtful input. Always made my boyfriend and I feel comfortable discussing anything—even the most troubling/difficult moments of our relationship. Highly highly recommend.
Mary is an excellent counselor and even tho I am a new patient for her, she is extremely helpful to me. I’m in a post divorce situation, where 30 year old kids are acting like 2 year olds. She has been very helpful to me
Mary is a great listener. She is thoughtful and considerate with her responses. I came to her at a time when I really needed to work through some personal and family challenges, and she was supportive and non-judgmental. I would definitely recommend her!
She has been amazing! Helped me through a tough time and I’ve come such a long way! Thankful for her.
Mary is a consummate professional. We came looking for someone who could speak from a place of experience in relationships, mental health, and communication. She's also been flexible with our schedule and readily available.

Mary changed my life in just our three sessions. She listened to me, and when I didn’t know what to say, she asked all the right questions to help me get out what I was feeling. I would recommend her to absolutely everyone.

She is terrific
Mary, has been great, she has been able to get us both to open up. It has taken some time for my husband but he is becoming a willing participant. Kudos for her taking her time to listen to us both
Mary Miller is absolutely the best counselor I could choose.

First session was great. I am confident in her abilities and skills to assist me. She provided a bunch of information from just the first session.
Amazing
Mary really has my interests at heart! I was so glad to find her in a very difficult time.
Mary has helped me in a variety of ways; she has helped with ways to cope with anxiety I have been experiencing.
After every session I feel better with what we have discussed and I feel empowered with new skills to better address everyday stresses in my high pressure job.
Mary is very professional, understanding and respectful. She is very calm, caring, and approachable. She gives me the info/tools I need that is appropriate. I like that I can read these very quickly and have easy access from my profile . I appreciate that she takes time to explain concepts to help me understand myself without suggesting a book right off the bat. I don't like reading long books if I can find a short but concise way to still get what I need to know. She takes care to make sure I understand things properly. She follows up with concerns and questions. She is very engaging and remembers what I've shared without having me repeat myself too much.
I found Mary to be very supportive and skillful in addressing faulty thinking I had about myself and my challenges in my marriage.
Mary is a fantastic counselor. She is thoughtful, encouraging, and skilled at handling issues.
Mary is wonderful. She has been a really helpful support system and voice of reason for me when I needed it most. I always leave our sessions feeling relieved, listened to and empowered with a game plan to tackle whatever it is that I might be dealing with that week.
Mary Miller is kind, creative and a great support system. She gives constructive counseling and offers skills to better improve marriage, coping skills and improve depression & anxiety. I’ve enjoyed talking with her through video, phone and text. She’s been a very helpful listening ear and support system.
I've only had two sessions with her, but I find Mary to be an excellent counselor. She is resourceful, respectful and a great listener. I highly recommend her!
Mary has been very helpful and she really cares and spends time reading and carefully answering my posts. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Very honest and open. Listens attentively and gives feedback that allows you to actually rethink your actions and want to do better. She made me aware of mindfulness patterns that I've ignored when anger might arise.
Mary has been a Godsend! My teenage son had not opened up to the idea of counseling or therapy in the past but with the ability to IM or text with Mary, he gave it a shot. She made him comfortable with the process very quickly. She puts my mind at ease that even if he and I aren't talking as much as we did when he was younger, he has her and trusts her.
