About Me

It’s normal for teenagers to feel cheerful and excited some days, and down, flat, low or sad at other times. It’s also normal for teenagers to want more privacy or time on their own. In the teenage years, these emotional ups and downs can happen more often than they used to, and they can be more extreme. Your child’s emotional ups and downs might happen for many reasons – physical, emotional, social and psychological – and not for any one reason in particular. Often you won’t be able to pin down why your child feels up or down – and neither will your child. I am a licensed clinician in the state of Florida and for 10 yrs I worked with children and teens using evidenced based therapeutic models to effect change. Behavior modification requires patience and persistence only a skilled clinician employs to bring about incremental changes that add up to meaningful positive changes. . Your struggles cannot be insurmountable if you choose the right clinician to help you navigate this emotionally challenging road.

Mariama's expert advice, actionable coping strategies, and caring encouraging nature has given me the strength to move forward with gusto and vitality. From the get go, she made me feel comfortable and heard, helping me challenge my spiralling thoughts and providing perspective on situations in which I was struggling. Mariama's incredible insight and understanding has helped me immensely, all the while with and a great sense of humour that always brightened our sessions. Thank you Mariama for all you do!

Mariama was instrumental in helping me through a rough patch in my marriage. She gave me the guidance I needed to take the proper steps to save my marriage of 10 years, I can't thank her enough. I would highly recommend anyone seeking relationship counseling to speak with her.

I'm getting so much from working with Mariama. Right from the first session I felt that she 'saw' me and had a strong understanding of the issues I've experienced (and the ongoing impacts of my particular trauma). Mariama has provided me with support, motivation and very practical advice to challenge my beliefs and thoughts, and this has helped quite quickly on a day-to-day basis. I've seen a few different therapists over the years but have never quite felt such a connection where I know the therapist just 'gets it'.
