Margaret Lorenz

(LCSW)

About Me

Hello!

I am an LCSW working with teens and their families for over 20 years in both school based and therapeutic settings. In my career I have worked with young people struggling with depression, self harm, sexual identity issues, anxiety, peer conflicts, ADHD, divorce, proper use of technology and family based conflicts. Meeting with both parents and teens we have found methods for combatting these presenting problems to make the home life better and to increase school achievement.

I like to work with families as a whole to build better communication and understanding. I realize that while teens are struggling to gain their independence and sense of self, their parents are trying to find that balance between setting boundaries and letting their child chart their own course. Adolescence is tough on both parent and child -- however, with focus and communication, these years can be a time of great growth and connection. I am here to help!

First off I would like to clarify that I am not big on seeking counseling. However giving it a shot for the first time in my life and gettibg Ms. Lorenz as my counselor, I must admit it is a relief to have someone there to listen and give unbiased advice and actually try to help YOU. I look forward to more sessions, and highly recommend teen counseling and especially Margaret Lorenz.

Margaret has been wonderful in the time I needed help. As well as being a great counsellor, she felt like a friend I could to talk about anything. I felt listened to and she did not give a biased opinion on my situation. She rather assessed the situation from a non-biased point of view. I feel a lot more content with myself thanks to Margaret. I appreciate everything you have done for me.

Last year has been a huge turmoil for me and I am glad I got paired with Margaret to guide me through the process of putting myself together again.

I had gone through lots of changes that had put me in a very unfamiliar situation and she helped me teen counseling my self-confidence, identify my anxiety and improve the relationship with my partner. She gave me the tools to deal with these issues, while making me feel supported, heard, and challenging my thoughts by asking the right questions.

I am very happy with the whole process and I wouldn't hesitate on contacting her if I ever need counseling again.

She focuses on a person's self-confidence but is able to home in on issues when I'm in denial or evasive. If I don't text shell do so first to check-in and offers helpful articles for the week.

My therapist, Margaret Lorenz, has bettered my life in such a short amount of time. I have a long way to go but I would have been even more miserable without her. We mostly do video sessions which makes it feel like nothing less than an in-person session. She has made time for me on all major holidays and has fit me in at all my times of need even if it meant she had to step away from her personal life for a few minutes. That’s real dedication and extremely considerate of her. I appreciate and respect her and can’t thank her enough. She makes you feel comfortable to be yourself and helps you have a more positive outlook on things.

I totally loved working with Margaret. She's such a lovely human being, a wonderful counselor who had always put an effort in understanding my issues, yet the most important thing for me was that she has been so emotionally supportive. No matter how down I felt, after every message that Margaret sent to me, I just became more and more confident in my abilities, I rediscovered myself, and I discovered new tools that I could use for coping with possible emotional difficulties I might encounter in my life. Seriously, what would someone need more than a counselor who always finds and shows you the good parts of yourself, no matter how insignificant, useless and wrong you think you are in that moments? I can say that with Margaret's help I achieved my main goal -- to be kind to myself and happy with what I am and what I do. Thank you, Margaret, for all your kindness and for your endless patience. Your careful guidance really brought me on the right path.

Margaret has been wonderful. She has helped me more in two weeks than someone I've been going to for over a year. Margaret truly listens and cares and I can tell she puts effort into her responses. She understands and the way she responds makes me feel comfortable and allows me to be more open.

It's only been a few weeks but I can't believe how much Margaret has helped with things that have been bothering me for years. I would recommend her to anyone who might be a little apprehensive about seeing a therapist for the first time, she really made me feel comfortable and safe.
