Welcome to Better Help, my name is Loretta Brown. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a wealth of experience in mental health treatment. I obtained my MSW in 1992 from Hunter College School of Social Work. Upon completing graduate School, I began my career working in mental health providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, family and adults. My most extensive work has been with adolescents between the ages of 13-19.
My 25 years of experience goes over and beyond the work I’ve done in mental health clinics, psychiatric hospitals, child welfare agencies, home health and hospice care. Today I have my own private practice providing behavioral health services, working with youth, adults and families. I specialize in providing evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral treatment, solution focus therapy, emotion-focus therapy and mindfulness therapies. I have a relaxed and liberal approach, allowing you to be expressive in your needs, aiding you to bring clarity to your current life situation.
My goal is to help you re-imagine your life, by letting go of thoughts and behaviors that undermine you. I strive to allow a renewed and fulfilled you to emerge. My extensive skills and experience in therapeutic approaches have brought forth a vast amount of client success. I look forward to working with you and observing the change that will bring hope and resilience.

since covid started my anxiety started skyrocketing again because I wasn't able to leave my house. I've had bad experiences with therapists before and was hesitant to try this at first but then when I had my first meeting with her I knew that things were finally gonna change. she's helped me tremendously with many different coping skills and worksheets to get my mind going. I am so glad Loretta has come into my life!
I have only had two sessions with Loretta so far, but she has been really great and I look forward to continuing to work with her. She has made transitioning back into therapy easy and on my terms. She has already pushed me to do better and feel better in my every day life.
She’s awesome! I would definitely want to talk with Loretta again!
I have been working with Loretta for a few weeks now. Her personality is bubbly and inviting. She is a straight shooter but in a respectful way. I really enjoy speaking with her and I am looking forward to our sessions for many weeks to come. Highly recommend!
Loretta is a very knowledgable therapist. She has a lot of experience and is able to relate to me and my experiences. She has helped me think about problems from other's perspectives; helped bring out my self confidence; and has made me a better partner. I am glad to have Loretta by my side during this pandemic!
I started seeing Loretta in May. I was at a point of not knowing what to do to choose to live a life I wanted. A life that I loved and wanted to live. Through working with Loretta for 5 months my life has improved to the point that I want to continue to heal the things that block me from true happiness. I have worked hard for it and love that i am challenged and find clearer ways to understand what I feel and how I react. The view through emotions is different. I'm allowed to be myself and feel so embraced and empowered through my journey with my counselor. She is truly the counselor I prayed for. I thank her for her dedication to me. It's true, we inspire each other and that is exactly what I needed. Someone that listens to me and my own opinion of things and then offers me challenges for me to see myself though the right (my)lense, not through others. She is such an asset to my self healing journey. I certainly am blessed by having her on my team and cheering for me. I have such gratitude in my heart.
She is really great. I enjoy our sessions and glad she’s able to communicate with me!
Ms Loretta has been phenomenal, I wish I didn’t have to change counselors when I move. She has a very welcoming tone but doesn’t pull any punches when offering solutions and addressing the things she observes.
I really like Miss Loretta. We have a really good dynamic and she's really helpful when it comes to my bipolar disorder. She's helping me cope with that as well as the end of my marriage. She's wonderful and I would recommend her in a heartbeat!
Loretta is very understanding and extraordinarily helpful. She listens, validates, and asks the important questions that nobody else does. She gives sound, effective advice. I’m extremely grateful for her metaphors, examples, and expertise.
Loretta is phenomenal!!! She has opened my eyes to so much about myself and my relationships with family and loved ones. Her skills are amazing and I love how she makes me feel at ease about the topics we cover. Loretta is a God send and I am grateful to have her as my counselor.
You are a gift to the world! Thank you!!
I am glad to have found someone who can understand my background.
She’s been of great help for my daughter. She really takes the time to get to know you. Very professional and a great person.
