I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California with 5 years in private practice as well as 25 years in mental health settings. I have worked with many adolescents and their parents. Your teen will be respected, listened to and supported as they work with me. At the onset I am clear that their sessions will be confidential with the exception of safety concerns. Frequently a teen chooses to have some joint sessions with their parents present to provide a neutral environment to discuss difficult thoughts or feelings.
Some of the issues I work on include depression, anxiety, anger management, relationship issues, self -confidence, social anxiety, attachment issues, and family and school stresses. I have experience in multiple therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Brief Therapy, Solution Based Therapy, Attachment Therapy and Client-Centered Therapy. These Therapies are then tailored and adjusted to best serve your teen’s needs.
Teenage years used to be thought of as a period of trying new things; finding out more about yourself and sometimes failing but with the knowledge that failure is a part of success. As a society we have taken that away from teenagers. They have lost that time for exploration. Many of the teens I work with talk about a failed relationship as if it will be the last one of their life. With tools and support they can regain that spirit of exploration, confident that they will mature successfully.
I look forward to working with your child and your family!

Linda is very responsive and understanding. My daughter likes her a lot!
Linda is a fabulous counselor! My husband and I have been going to her , trying to seek out ways to communicate better. She is fair , future focused (aka helps me not to beat a dead horse lol) and ALWAYS leave us with some tool or activity to utilize after each session! I would highly recommend Linda to any couple seeking a little refresh / help with their relationship!
I enjoy working with Linda. I feel understood and reassured about my feelings when communicating to her.
Linda Karpel is very nice and makes you feel comfortable to talk about anything
Linda is a great listener and has a keen sense of people. I connected instantly with her and through her insights I had some great breakthroughs. Using teen counseling let me overcome any fears I had about therapy.
Wonderful and very understanding.
