About me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Therapist, who has been practicing Mental Health and Addiction Therapy for the past 18 years. I specialize in providing healing to those who struggle with Substance Use, Depression, Bipolar, and Anxiety (specifically OCD, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Panic Disorder both with and without Agoraphobia). I also have experience with grief and loss, physical trauma, emotional abuse, and relationship conflicts.

Throughout my years as a therapist, I have had the opportunity to work with teens who are struggling to establish their own identity, while trying to understand the transformations that are occurring in their every day lives. The teenage years can be scary for most teens because there are so many developmental and physical changes taking place. Although life can begin to feel completely overwhelming during this time, it doesn't have to be. There is a way to feel like you are being understood, and to communicate effectively with your family and friends. Open communication, trust, and a sense of empowerment are all key to maintaining healthy relationships, and it is my hope to help you regain these skills. Additionally, if you are struggling with depressive symptoms, feelings of anxiety or hopelessness, I do specialize in these areas.

My counseling style embraces empathy, compassion, mindfulness, and empowerment. Patient Centered Therapy is one of my main therapeutic approaches, as it takes into account each person's own preferences, needs, and values before making any treatment decisions. My theoretical approach utilizes coping skills and techniques from both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Therapy. The Practice of Mindfulness plays a significant role in my counseling style and approach as well. Mindfulness is very effective in calming the mind and freeing it from anxiety. It is a safe, effective healing therapy that provides long lasting positive changes.

When we believe we are given more than we can handle, the next step is to begin the journey of healing. With healing comes self-confidence, well-being, freedom to control our thoughts and emotions, and to understand our purpose. It would be a privilege to enter into the journey of healing with you.

As you begin the healing walk on the way of your journey, the healing way appears - Kyra Dawn Delcambre, LCMHC
