About me

Hi! Welcome to Teen Counseling.

My name is Kristen. I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Oregon.

I have worked with a lot of teenagers and would love to work with you. For most people (although you can't always tell from their Instagram), teenage years are painfully tough. Many teenagers have worked with me on self-esteem, relationship stress, family issues, depression, anxiety and healing from trauma. And don't worry, no matter what happens: I promise not to judge you or freak out on you. :)

My education, experience and approach: I received a master's degree in social work (MSW) in 2013 from the University of Alabama. I have worked as a counselor for five years. During that time, I worked with many teenagers and their parents. I provided one-on-one counseling to teenagers as well as parenting support. I enjoy using mindfulness-based interventions with persons who are interested as these are heavily supported by the latest neuroscience research. Collaborative Problem Solving and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are among other approaches that I like to take bits and pieces from.

My style differs with each person/family. I welcome any and all feedback as the counseling is about supporting you in the way that you need to be supported.

I would love to join you on your journey. Please reach out if you have any questions for me or if you'd like to work together. :)

I have utilized talk therapy my whole life and I decided on a career in mental health. Kristen is the only therapist that I actually accomplished therapy goals with. My most important life goal was accomplished while working with her. When my life took a turn I wasn’t expecting I immediately knew I wanted Kristen in my tool belt to help me get through the rough times. There is a therapist for everyone and I highly recommend Kristen. Thank you Kristen!

I have not been in therapy for long (about 3 weeks), and honestly, I was kind of apprehensive about the whole thing, at least at first. I find it difficult to open myself up and be vulnerable with others, and it is nearly impossible for me to do this with people I hardly know. However; Kristen has completely changed my mind about this entire process. Although everything is remote, Kristen is able to create a great environment for her clients. Kristen truly listens to the people who come to her for help. I feel safe when I open up to her. I'm not afraid to be brutally honest, and I have no fear of being judged for my thoughts. She is professional yet still manages to make you feel as if you are speaking to a close friend of many years, which is an amazing feat, as I have no friends. Again, I have only been in therapy for 3 weeks, but I highly recommend Kristen Sartor to anyone looking to better themselves.

Kristen is amazing! She always knows just how to get to the root of a challenge with compassion and insight. I feel valued and respected when I talk to her and she helps me be the best version of myself.

Kristen has helped me process grief, provided support and motivation in my goals, and helps me maintain focus and accountability in multiple areas of my life. I had never been to more than one session with a mental health professional before I started video sessions with Kristen, but I meet with her every week and have for several months. My grief, anxiety, and over-thinking tendencies have dropped dramatically, and the weekly talks help prevent things from building up to unmanageable levels over time. I appreciate the goal reminders and accountability, and I feel like I'm accomplishing more without the usual mental stress. I highly recommend Kristen and teencounseling.com.

Kristin is wonderful. I have nothing else to say, she is exactly what I want in a counselor.

Kristen has helped my teen immensely. She is very responsive to messages and on time to live online sessions. She also responded in a timely manner to all my questions and messages.

Kristen is a good listener. She makes contact in between appointments. We feel she goes above and beyond by doing that.

We’ve been speaking with Kristen for four months now and she’s been a huge help. In the beginning, I was done with my marriage. I was frustrated with how things were. She has helped us become more communicative and see each others point of views. We’ve (I think) gotten more comfortable and less argumentative. Thank you!!

Kristen is wonderful! If teencounseling.com didn't randomly match counselors, I would recommend her to everyone I know.

I started therapy with Kristen at the start of quarantine (but after wanting to for much longer) and she has been a life saver. My anxiety and depression was taking over my life and she has helped give me the tools to get it back. Kristen is so easy to talk to, making you feel comfortable with sharing any issue or concern. I never feel judged or shamed by her, always empowered and encouraged!

Kristen has been wonderful so far! She gives great advice and insight without seeming like she is judging. She does not have an issue admitting if she does not know about something and is willing to ask other colleagues when needed. She is great!

Kristen is my second counselor on here, as my first didn’t work out. I’m glad I tried one more time because she is wonderful! Before even video chatting (using the text feature) she had a very clear idea of what I needed. She’s positive, kind, caring and has great tools.
