About me

My name is Kim Epperly and I have been a counselor for 20 years. I have worked with a wide variety of populations aging from age 5-55. I am very passionate about helping those who are in need and are suffering. I graduated from Lynchburg College in 1999 with a BS in Psychology/Special Education. I went on to work in an in-patient hospital for the next 11. 5 years counseling children from the age of 5-18 who were in danger of harming themselves and others. This experience equipped me with the tools necessary to work with the adolescent population and meet each teens individual needs. I use reflective listening, validation and am able to build quick rapport to facilitate the adolescents ability to trust me and be willing to feel safe to open up in therapy. This is such an important if not the main component in working adolescents is providing them a safe place with no judgement to share their thoughts, feelings and deepest hurts.

We have only done one session so far and talked a small amount so it’s too soon to say. But my counselor is nice and responsive and a good listener.

Kim is very supportive and helpful. She seems to go out of her way for her clients and I would recommend her to anyone!

Kim has been very helpful to me. When I first started talking to her, I was skeptical of whether counseling would help and resistant to the idea of starting counseling, but she quickly dispelled this belief. In sessions, Kim listens thoroughly and makes sure that she fully comprehends your feelings. After listening and understanding, she offers well-thought-out advice and proposes useful coping techniques, often relating to mindfulness, breathing, and reframing, geared towards improving well-being. She is generous with her time, and it is evident that she cares about making a difference. She works in this industry because she cares, and, when talking to her, you can tell. I would highly recommend working with her!

Kim is the best. She is so sweet and supportive, as well as being incredibly easy to talk to! She has always been there for me when I need it the most and I am so thankful. It’s super obvious how much she cares. I love her!

She did a great job with making me feel comfortable and open up about how I was feeling.
