Are you struggling at home, work or school, facing stressful or painful events in your life, or simply need someone to openly listen? I work with individuals who have anxiety, depression, substance abuse, mood disorders, dual diagnoses, and PTSD, and career/college counseling. . My goal as a counselor is to provide a confidential setting while establishing a trusting connection with you so together, we can explore pathways to your own health and well-being.
I work with each individual to design a personal plan to help them find their path to wholeness. In addition to my years in counseling, I have worked in the foster care system helping to reunite families, and in the educational system guiding students in their studies including career and college choices. I am a graduate of the University of Alabama’s Rehabilitation Counseling program, and my graduate study was focused in the area of substance abuse.
I believe that everyone has the capacity to reach for wholeness of one's mind, body, and soul. My own personal journey of overcoming my past childhood traumas through therapeutic work/support, inspired me as a counselor. I look forward to every day helping and inspiring others so that they can begin to hope for the possibilities of growth and healing in their own lives. Contact me to schedule an appointment.

Karmel had been wonderful with my teenage daughter. My daughter feels comfortable talking to her about the problems that are bothering her. Karmel has also introduced new ways of working through her anxiety, which we are excited to try. I highly recommend Karmel, and am thankful to have her help my daughter.
Karmel has been wonderful and truly makes me feel comfortable. I feel like she cares and wants to help and this is not just “second” job for her. I believe she said she works at another practice, so she takes this job serious as well. I have enjoyed her thus far.
Karmel Mayo is a awesome counselor. I had never spoken with a counselor before now and I explained that to her and she has guided me through each session and has given me different tools to help me through my situation. I have gained trust in her that she has my best interest at heart. She is constantly checking on me and always respond when I message her in a very timely manner. She is easy to talk with just all around awesome.
