About me
I'm a LMFT with over 10 years experience working with at-risk youth, parent-child conflict and young adults at a cross road in their life.
I got into counseling because I wanted to help others. I realized at a young age people felt comfortable talking to me about their problems. In life, no one is immune from trials and tribulations. However, I believe every hurdle we overcome makes us that much stronger/ confident. I use both CBT -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Humanistic Therapy with my clients. I use CBT because I believe we can always restructure how we see the world and make changes in our behavior for the better. Also, Humanistic Approach-I’m an Existentialist, because I believe we are human and we make mistakes. Just because we go down one path and it did not work, out, does not mean we cannot turn around and take another path that is more fulfilling/ rewarding. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
I am a warm, engaging and compassionate therapist . I do not believe in stigmatizing or labels. If you are seeking therapy you have already taken the first step. Give me the opportunity to support you on this journey.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Kalisa Thomas. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Kalisa is very patient and intuitive about the needs of teen girls. She has helped my daughter develop stronger self-regulation skills.
she has done a good job
I am very pleased with
Ms. Thomas. I would not hesitate to refer her to anyone needing help.
I have had a positive experience with Kalisa . She has been supportive as far as what my needs are. I hope to continue working with her on my concerns and issues
Kalisa has been a lifesaver for me, especially during the pandemic. She always encourages me to take good care of myself, which I need to be reminded about. Now, I encourage other women in the same way. She has helped me tremendously with dealing with my less-than-healthy work environment as well. Kalisa is a kind, compassionate and caring person, and I'm very glad and grateful I got her as my counselor.
Kalisa is very understanding. She can relate to my issues and offers her expertise to assist. I highly recommend her.
Kalissa is very good! She understands me and my situation perfectly. She’s able to give me advice, and tell me exactly what I need to hear when I need her the most.
Working with Kalisa has been great thus far. She offers practical and actionable advice which I really respond to, but she's also empathetic and easy to talk with.
Kalisa has been amazing since the start. She is very thorough, engaging and sincere. It really makes a difference when your counselor actually makes it a point to remember prior conversations and builds off of that, it makes the experience more personable.
Kalisa is amazing! So sweet and thoughtful, like talking to an old friend. Felt very comfortable on our first session and cannot wait for future sessions.
She’s great, doesn’t make it feel like a therapy consult. More like talking to a friend.
