Greetings! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with years of experience counseling in the mental health field since 2015. I graduated with a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Sam Houston State University. I have counseled students in a university setting, patients in a psychiatric hospital setting, and individually in private practice. I've done extensive work with adolescents in an inpatient hospital setting, helping teens and family cope with many different types of problems.
My approach to therapy ultimately beings with warm and non-judgmental support, no matter the problem. I seek to empower clients to make their own decisions and move towards valued-based living. Behind my approach is a cutting-edge protocol in cognitive behavioral therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My desire is to find the underlying processes that might be contributing to suffering and individualize treatment, using evidence-based methods, while also making sure your child or teen feels truly heard.
Choosing the counselor that fits your child's needs is crucial to their success. The counseling field has known for a long time now that the most reliable predictor of success in therapy is the therapeutic relationship itself. Make sure you feel good about your counselor—that you trust and respect them to interact well with your child. You’re not alone. Support them well and we can help.

After having gone though a few therapists in person and on here on teen counseling, I can say that Justin is the one that I've clicked with best & have had the most results with. I feel genuinely heard, and understood, not brushed off or only half heard. I tend to go on long tangents, but he reads it all and listens carefully, offering me valuable insights and strategic exercises which challenge me and help me grow. He is clearly very skilled and knowledgeable. Just as importantly, he is markedly sympathetic and attentive. With a sense of humor.
Also - it's awesome to have someone that can type at a quick pace that keeps up with mine when we do live chats!
My child didn't respond well to the 1st Councillor she had and was assigned Justin while we looked through and decided who to go with (was looking at female councillors) but Justin was so helpful and my child was happy and responded really well to the techniques and care that was given.
Thank you so much Justin, your amazing, my child is in a much better place now.
We are sooooo grateful we found Justin and teen counseling! Justin was incredibly responsive, comforting, and professional. We have seen a counselor before, but don’t feel we got as much out of it as we did with Justin. He was very easy to talk to, patient, and provided multiple outlooks/materials/ideas for us to implement. We would recommend Justin to anyone!
I have been working with Justin for over a month now. He is a great counselor. He is very easy to talk to and understanding. He does a great job of keeping me accountable and nudging me forward through uncomfortable topics. I feel like he truly cares about me and my progress in life.
Great person great counselor. He listens well and is very patient. Shows empathy. Lucky to have him as my counselor
Justin has been a great counsellor and I really enjoyed my sessions with him. He is a great listener, non-judgmental, caring, and definitely tries his best to help as best he can, especially through mindfulness techniques, which is one of his expertise. I definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking to start the therapy process!
Justin has been absolutely phenomenal. He is a great listener and with that listening he provides very powerful insights. Since working with him, I feel better in my day to day activity. He is helping improve all aspects of my life from my mental well being to my physical well being. Justin is caring, compassion, and intelligent. I would strongly recommend him to anyone seeking counseling.
Justin's ability to listen and form actionable goals based on our therapy sessions is extremely helpful to my growth. He also provides worksheets, tools, and information that I can use in-between sessions to continue my work for betterment. I have felt supported and non-judgment throughout my sessions with Justin, which gives me confidence that I can make real change through therapy.
Justin listens to me in a way that other therapists haven't. He has poignant insights, recommendations he wants me to try, and helps me get pointed in the right direction to get better.
He is very skilled and experienced. Very professional.
Excellent for what my needs have been so far. Recommended for all!
Justin has been nothing but supportive and provided many tools for me to help with anxiety and assertiveness. I am very happy I went with him and plan on keeping him around!!
He is great professional :) helped me a lot, we found the way to help me:) I hope he could help you too :)
He understands and supports and he is super easy to talk to. Helped with negative thoughts, was always there to support me.
Justin Salcedo is very supportive of my current situation, and always takes time to hear me out, read all my messages on time, and reply thoroughly. 3rd week in teen counseling and I signed up just on time, for my new problems to be able to find support. Couldn’t have asked for a better therapist than Justin Salcedo.
Very professional and polite counselor
