About me
Would you like to change how you feel? Do you know that your thoughts about yourself and your life determine what you're feeling and the choices you make. Let's use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to change your thoughts and change your life. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensed in the state of Missouri with over 22 years of experience as a psychotherapist. I have worked with clients of every age and diagnosis, but most of my experience is in the areas of relational issues, depression, anxiety, parenting issue, and life changes. I have worked with teens for many years, and I have found that Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is the most effective way to get them to understand what they think about themselves and how to learn to see themselves more realistically and objectively. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Baylor University and my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. I've been married for 30 years, and I have four children ranging in ages from 13-22.
As mentioned above, my main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). However, I also employ Insight-Oriented Therapy as well. This just means that I will work with your teen on discovering what their thoughts are about themselves, and then work on changing them so that their emotions and behavior change as well. We will develop treatment goals suited to their specific needs and desires. My belief is that counseling will empower them to accomplish their therapeutic goals and that they will acquire a new set of skills that they'll be able to use the rest of their life.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jon Collings. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
I have been meeting with Jon for a year and half now, and I am so happy that I've finally found a therapist who understands me and challenges me in the ways I need.
Great as usual
Jon listens and give me active ways to address my concerns and struggles. My sessions with him have been helpful and I always leave them feeling more equipped to face life challenges!
My journey with Jon started about two years ago. The development and strategies we have used to progress in many aspects of life have greatly helped me come to terms with having a healthy productive view of my future. It seems to transcend my preconceived idea of “therapy” alone. Thanks Jon!
He is someone who listens and has so much compassion. The advice, feedback and tools he has provided me truly has helped me in my journey to living a healthy life.
He seems to know what is going on with me before I do, which is very helpful. He is also so positive which is great.
I have seen three other therapists before Jon, and I can say that he is by far the best I’ve had! He has helped me tremendously and I’d highly recommend him to anyone.
It’s truly been great working with Jon, he’s helped me become more confident with myself and my actions. I’d for sure recommend him himself as a therapist to anyone else, and I know for sure I’ve recommended teencounseling.com to others already.
It’s been awesome working with Jon! I could not recommend him enough.
Very insightful, helpful, and professional.
Jon is very attentive, and takes the time to listen, read, and respond. I never feel rushed, and I always feel like my concerns are addressed thoughtfully.
So far so great
Beyond helpful. Very insightful. So grateful we crossed paths.
I was a bit skeptical about how online therapy could work. After my first meeting with Jon Collins, I was convinced both my therapist match and the means of therapy was quite successful. After our initial meeting, I was full of hope about having ideas of how to move in the direction I wanted to go to get out of some relationship snags. Jon listened to me and therefore understood what I was saying and gave great feedback. I’m really happy I made the decision to try teencounseling.com .
Jon does a great job listening and also providing sound advice. He's experienced in relationships as well as navigating past trauma.
Jon is very engaged and quickly understands the needs without forcing his patients to deal with anything to big too fast. Most importantly He is always Available
Jon has been very patient with me and gives positive feedback on each session. Often he gives specific things he wants me to work on in between sessions that I can do or keep in mind, which helps me towards my goals faster. He always reminds me how he is available in between sessions and encourages writings to him for any reason.
He’s been great!
Jon has been so very helpful and a great source of encouragement as he works with our teenage son. He communicates in a way that a 14 year old boy will listen. That is a rare gift--and we are grateful!
My significant other, encouraged me to use this app after the many times I expressed to her I’ve always wanted to speak to a counselor. I was timid at first but when I was paired with Jon, from the first video session I was put at ease. Now a few months later I’ve learned so much and am able to impart some of what I’ve learned with others around me. When talking to my significant other and her experience with her counselor on the app, it took her a few tries to find a good fit whereas I found a good fit with Jon on my first try. His approach to issues I face is great and it’s good to get to the core of some the issues. I’m forever grateful to have been matched with Jon and I hope others can get the same benefits with him that I’ve experienced through our sessions.
