About Me

Hello, my name is Jennifer Harmon and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I am licensed in, both, Utah and California. I have been working in the social services field for over 15 years. In addition to being a clinical social worker, I also am an advanced alcohol and drug counselor and have extensive training and certification in working with those with sexual issues, including sex offenders, and those who have experienced sexual abuse. My approach to therapy is person-centered. What that means is that I believe that each person, who seeks therapy, is unique and special, so must work with a therapist who can work in unique ways to address the individual person. I generally pull from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solutions focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychodynamic therapy. In addition to this, I am very creative in my approach to therapy, and often use art and music as interventions to help my clients. I have extensive experience in working with such as issues as depression, anxiety, time-management skills, anger management, addiction, sexual issues, eating disorders, trauma, grief, and family issues. I truly believe that everyone has the capacity to heal, grow, overcome life's challenges, and create a life that they want. I approach therapy with empathy and compassion and seek to create a space that is non-judgemental, accepting, collaborative, honest, and open.

I have been working with Jennifer for around three months now, and I can honestly say that I'm very grateful to have been matched with such a thoughtful, practical, and experienced therapist. Jennifer is a true professional, and knows exactly when a softer approach is required whilst also identifying precisely when to give a gentle push in the right direction. I've also been incredibly impressed with how well Jennifer has made me feel comfortable on a video call and picks up on cues as if the session were taking place in person. She also has always made me feel like an individual rather than just one of many, and I greatly appreciate how she tailors each session to my own needs rather than a set series of steps. A treatment plan was devised in session one based on my needs and wants and it really feels like we work towards that together in each session without it feeling like the be all and end all.

Since starting my sessions with Jennifer, I feel that I have significantly more coping mechanisms to support me on a day to day basis, and a greater understanding of my own mental health. Her promptness and flexibility has helped me get the most out of therapy, and I am grateful to be working together going forward.

Jennifer is incredibly experienced in a wide range of issues and approaches, and I would recommend her in a heartbeat. She is a credit to any organisation, and her expertise, kindness and understanding has been invaluable.

Always an up building experience with Jennifer. Very professional and supportive. But what I appreciate the most is that Jennifer doesn’t give me the answer but helps me to work them out.

Jennifer is really helping my teen with her struggles. Jennifer listens carefully and responds promptly with great advice and insightful responses. She really cares about helping my teen and it shows as my teen is showing improvement and is smiling more often! Thank you, Jennifer!

I’ve only just started using teen counseling and so far I like Jennifer. She’s easy to talk to, even about some difficult topics that I usually tend to avoid. I feel like she understands what some of my core issues are and has already suggested a few techniques that seem to help with my anxiety, depression, and lack of self esteem. I would definitely recommend her to anyone dealing with similar issues like me.

Jennifer is extremely clever and knows exactly what she's doing. She understands what is happening quickly without the client having to spell it out, which is a great relief. She also has a direct, concise approach that provides structure, gets things done, and teaches new skills to manage the problem, which is exactly what I was looking for. 10/10
