About Me

Kids come in all shapes and sizes, and can be quite mystifying at times. I appreciate the language of youth and strive to help bridge the gaps between the generations through a disciplined and compassionate approach that focuses on increasing effective communication and empathy. Mindfulness is primary in my working with teens as a focal point for centering on the here-and-now to create bridges with others rather than walls. Being a teen means negotiating that life space between being a child and an adult--between feeling small and powerless to feeling awake and responsible. It can be a carefree time or one burdened by the weight of true independence. Teens are particularly sensitive to feelings of isolation and judgment, as it is the time for cementing individuality and values. My therapeutic interest is in helping youth identify and clarify those values they will use moving forward into their adult lives. My training and experience is in working with youth to recover from chemical use and other behavioral issues(for istance, eating disorders, or "cutting") that hinder their development.
I look forward to working with your youth.
