About me

Hey there! My name is Heath

I appreciate your courage to seek out help. I have enjoyed working in the mental health field for 9 years now and I'm licensed in the State of Ohio. As a counselor I have the most experience working with children and adolescents from different backgrounds. I have experience working with an array of issues including depression, self harming, anxiety, anger control, and substance abuse. I also have some experience working with ADHD, ODD, family problems, and grief and loss.

My approach is very person centered, cognitive behavioral, and solution focused. I have a genuine personality, a nonjudgmental attitude, and a friendly demeanor. I believe the most important factor is the client-counselor relationship. It is within this relationship that a person can begin to heal, find hope, and be encouraged through the change process.

If you are ready to receive help I am happy to be supportive and empower you through the process.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Heath Ridenbaugh. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.

Heath is very responsive and is always there to support and push me to reach the goals we believe are best for me. After talking to Heath, I always feel he genuinely cares about helping me work on myself.

Heath is awesome. We tried 3 other counselors and… well… they sucked. One didn’t show for the appointment with didn’t get back to us. Another one kept asking my daughter the same questions every session. The other was messaging us and it took 3 days to hear back from her. Very frustrating.
Heath worked with my other daughter and she loved him. I did too. He was so nice to take on my other daughter when he wasn’t taking any new patients.
Give this man a HUGE raise. He is amazing and a great asset to the company.

Heath is absolutely one of the kindest souls to ever live, I'm convinced of it. He is patient, and really takes the time to listen to you vent your concerns and offers usually a variety of ways to improve yourself.
10/10 recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Heath has solutions and offers up help for whatever issue I seem to be having. It doesn't have to be ground crumbling problems for me to feel like I can reach out.

Heath is an excellent counselor. We struggled to get my son to agree to counseling, but once he started with Heath, he hasn't fought it.

Heath has helped my wife and me to develop communication in our marriage that before counselling was either non-existent or mostly argumentative. He has helped me personally to work through a very difficult circumstance of my own making to reconnect emotionally with my wife of over 31 years.

As the parent of a teen in Heart's care I can tell you that this man is top notch. He really listens and offers solutions based on what he's hearing that are doable and make sense. He is not only great with patients but he makes a point of communicating with us as parents so that we can collaborate on finding a good way forward together. Heath truly is everything we could have hoped for. Our teen likes him, we like him, and we're seeing a ton of positive results.

I have nothing but positive things to say about Heath. My husband and I look forward to our sessions with him weekly. He listens thoroughly to both of us, shows respect but chimes in and gives appropriate responses, advice, things to think about and options when trying to figure things out within our marriage. He is never pushy and is sincere always. He takes the time for both my husband and I whether it’s a session together or separate. Would love for him to ask more questions and dig deeper into issues

All in all he’s great!

Heath is probably the most active and respectful listener I've ever spent time with. He is thoughtful, insightful, deliberate, and genuine with how he values and communicates with me. I am very thankful for Heath and will object strongly to working with anyone else other than him.

I was seeing a counselor in person for a few months and I just felt like it wasn’t working for me. I wasn’t getting anywhere with it. After only two sessions with Heath, I feel that we have made a lot more progress than I did the whole course of my previous counselor. He pin points my exact needs.

Willing to help!

Heath was very calm and composed during our meetings which helped me enter a similar state which was nice. He went over time on a few of our sessions which made me feel like he actually cared, and he gave me that impression anyways. He was also proactive about checking in with me to make sure I made full use of this service.

Heath is working with my son who struggles with social skills as a result of his Asperger's/high functioning autism. He has a great report with my son and is easy for him to interact with. This is a life-long problem that my son will be dealing with, so expecting a quick fix isn't realistic.

Measuring success in the therapy field from a third hand perspective is all but impossible, so while progress has been slow, but I don't think I can necessarily blame Heath for that. I know he's focusing my son on the right things and he's getting him to question his behaviors. Given that he can't force my son to stop this or do that instead, what more can I expect?

From a parent's perspective, if you're looking for a kind counselor who asks questions, responds quickly, and interacts well with a teenage boy, I think he's a good choice. The simplicity of being able to call or message him as made the buy-in from my son a lot stronger because it overcomes the obstacle of the process being a chore or annoyance to him. I don't think there's much more important to success in therapy than buy-in and Heath made it easy for my son to do that.

Heath is a great and supportive listener, very open-minded and good at sorting through my emotional, multi-directional rambling and calling attention to common threads. Our sessions leave me with plenty of food for thought. He responds to messages in a very timely manner and has been great about checking in with me when I go too long without being in touch. He also has a worksheet for just about everything, some of which I've found very useful. I feel very lucky to have been matched with such a great therapist so easily through this service.

Thank you! I appreciate your time and compassion.

Written on Nov 14, 2018 after therapy with Heath for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, and anger management

Heath has been fantastic. I have been in counseling before with several different providers Heath has been my favorite. He was responsive, attentive, and properly challenging. He shared worksheets that were both relevant to my situation and insightful. While neither Heath’s verbal advise or the worksheeets directly solved my problems, both encouraged personal reflection. It was in that personal reflection where practical solutions were found.

Thank you, Heath.
