About me
My name is Hannah and I knew that I wanted to be a counselor by the time that I was in 8th grade. I went through my undergraduate program at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs for Communications and Psychology. Then I continued on to my Masters program for Counseling and Human Services with an emphasis in School Counseling at UCCS as well. Along the way I have worked with various age ranges of students in the school system and with first year college students. After graduation I became a school counselor in Denver and then in Colorado Springs the following year. Throughout my experience as a school counselor I found that I wanted to become a clinical counselor out in the field to create different change. Throughout the process of receiving my LPC I was experiencing some of my own depression after one of my high school freshman students committed suicide. Through my recovery and therapy I found yoga as a healing modality that complimented my therapeutic healing and knew that I wanted to spread and share that type of mind-body healing with everyone. Through yoga and counseling I now work to help people find the connection with their mental health and body awareness in a safe space to grow, learn, heal, experience, and observe themselves in this capacity. I teach yoga for depression and anxiety in the community and at treatment centers for addiction/substance abuse, and with teens in recovery. My approach to healing has a combination of Rogerian, Jungian, solution focused brief therapy and body healing theory. I am a certified yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance and am also a Reiki healer. I believe that I can help people who are willing to help themselves and are ready to put in the effort to change. I believe that the connection of mind and body helps people to release stress and trauma that is held in the tissues of the body and to fully recover and heal from the root cause. I am here to meet clients where they are at, provide a safe space, and to help clients grow and learn in this healing process together. I am a firm believer that every teacher is also a student so I strive to be curious and open to what I can learn from each individual that I meet.
