About me

Hello! My name is Emily Myers and I am a licensed professional clinical counselor through the state of Ohio. I have over 14 years in the counseling profession and over 20 years of work experience in customer service or a helping occupation. I graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. I taught preschool for a few years and decided to go back for my Master's in Community Counseling from the same university. I graduated in 2009 summa cum laude. Since then, I have held a variety of positions in the counseling field including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, children and family centered jobs. My last job was at a children's and teen only agency. I truly enjoyed working with the teenage population, and tend to develop a good rapport with that age group. I tend to have an eclectic approach to counseling based on what the client is wanting from the services. I use a lot of client centered, solution focused, and cognitive behavioral techniques. My sessions are always client driven with what the client is wanting to discuss or work on at that time. I'm excited to have this opportunity to work with you!

Emily has been great and has worked with me on everything I have asked her to. She offers resources and ways to work on things that have been very helpful to me.

I have only had one session with Emily so far, but she is a great listener and we get along great! She gives me homework assignments and worksheets that help me reflect on my emotional well being throughout the week. So far, this has been a very positive experience!

I feel so comfortable with Emily. She respects my boundaries, but also challenges me. I feel understood, and related to. My previous experiences have been awful, this is the first time I’ve felt at ease with someone.

Emily is the best. Wonderful to speak with. And she checks in often and let’s me know she’s there to support if needed.

Emily has been great so far. Supportive, with thoughtful suggestions. Our video sessions have felt productive, and our messaging between sessions has been helpful too.

She is wonderful and does such a fantastic job of listening as well as giving practical advice.

I think it’s a little early for this survey, but my initial interactions have been helpful. I definitely have hope for a healthier mental and emotional future. We’ve barely begun to scratch the surface though.

Emily is conscientious, and does well at not moving into a conversation beyond my comfort level. She has been kind and encouraging. She offers alternatives, but isn’t judgmental.

Working with Emily was extremely helpful. I really appreciate how we can check in using the app, which encouraged me to keep up with journaling and other processes.

I’ve been to therapy prior but didn’t really feel as though I ever made lasting progress—it was all very fleeting. I really appreciate Emily’s client centered approach, as this truly is the basis of her therapy style. It allowed me to ask for help to understand things I was really struggling with. I appreciate Emily’s kind approach even if she was holding me accountable or challenging my thoughts/processes. Anyone would be lucky to have Emily within their care team—she’s fantastic!

Currently it is still pretty early on but so far Emily has been great. She responded timely, and even reaches out on her own. After just a few exchanges between us she was already giving me tools to help control my temper. So far 10/10!

Work with me!
