About me

I am a licensed Professional Counselor in Texas with 6 years of experience in private practice, and an additional 9 years in various settings to include: acute in-patient, intensive outpatient, group facilitation, and residential treatment centers. This diverse background has allowed me to work with individuals, couples, children, teens, and adults ranging from ages 4-geriatric in age. A large portion of my experience has been dedicated to working with the teenage population facing some of life's most difficult challenges. This includes additional experience in working with teens who are currently in the foster care system, who have recently been in the foster care system, or who are at risk of going into the foster care system.

My client-centered approach is often driven by utilizing Cognitive Therapies, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness, and Strength Based Therapy. In order to tailor your experience to achieve your goals, an eclectic use of modalities will be used to help you conquer your goals. I have specialized experience in Depression, Stress, Anxiety, Employment Related Stress, Anger Management, specific challenges teens are facing, and enjoy working with couples and parents in resolving family and other relationship issues that may bring them into therapy.

My approach is compassionate yet direct, and non-judgmental. It has been my experience that when working with teens, it is of vital importance that a safe place to speak freely and feel heard is among the most important factors in determining success in the therapeutic relationship.

simply awesome! very professional and just amazing - i have had sessions with many councilors before but never felt as comfortable and in control as with Emily.

We are still new to the experience, and signed up right before departing on an extended holiday. However, while we haven’t been able to fully engage with Emily, yet (created by our situation entirely), I personally feel that there is a path forward for us to explore upon our return. Her gentle approach, and sharing of seemingly effective tools have allowed me to enjoy our vacation knowing that there will be good help, advice and relationship coaching upon my return. I've only been working with Emily for a short time now but I already feel such relief from being able to share my worries. She doesn't judge, she is very positive and respectful.
