About me

Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. I have several years of experience working with teens and adolescents in a variety of settings to include schools, and a partial hospitalization outpatient program focusing on mental health and substance abuse issues. I also have extensive knowledge and experience, both personally and professionally, of the military culture and its unique stressors/challenges it can present to families and children/teens.
I am a certified Positive Parenting Teens educator. I am also the mother of two wonderfully, beautiful, constantly changing teenagers who have also been faced with the complexities of life's challenges and being a teen.
I recognize and believe that the teenage years can be the most difficult stage in life as they are learning how to manage their internal struggles and life struggles. All of these are very real concerns and can have a huge impact on their lives. The great things is that teens have the capability to be very resilient.
I believe that working with teens to focus on their strengths, build life skills, help them to understand how their teenage brain works and the connection between their brain, thoughts, and feelings can help them navigate through not only this challenging stage in their life but build the necessary tools to assist them in the rest of their life's journey.
I look forward to working with you!

Written on May 04, 2022 after therapy with Donna for 1 year and 2 months on issues concerning stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, grief, self esteem, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue

Donna is an exceptional therapist and resource. She listens to me and really hears what I’m saying and also what I’m not saying - what I’m feeling and grappling with but can’t quite put my finger on. She helps enlighten me to trends in my thinking and ways to improve my mental clarity. She is also just a really kind, genuine person, and I feel very lucky to get to speak with her each week!

Donna is absolutely excellent. She has a warmth to her that is very inviting, with zero judgement and only great insight. She provided me with the exact tools I needed to get back on track, and I recommend her to anyone seeking assistance. She was also very accommodating to scheduling needs. Thank you, Donna!

Donna went above and beyond helping our son. When we had questions, she made a call happen immediately. We can't thank her enough for her patience and care during our nightmare.
