I am a LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) therapist licensed in Southwest Florida with over 9 years of experience working as a psychocounselor with individuals, and young adults/teens (ages 12-19). I have worked with teens who have experienced depression, anxiety and grief-loss. I have also worked in outpatient and co-ed residential settings specializing in teens who have experienced abandonment, loss of family, parents and/or home. Some of these teens also had a history of physical trauma, sexual or emotional abuse, and alcohol/substance addiction and abuse. Populations of teen clients have also included foster teens and adopted teens involved in division of juvenile justice.
My counseling style is open and engaging, and I approach all my clients with commitment and compassion. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral therapy, existential, psychodynamic, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapies. I will adjust my approaches and treatment plan to follow your individual needs and to meet your goals.
I am glad that you are taking this first step in seeking positive change. I am here to encourage and support you in your therapeutic journey.
I look forward to working with you!

He’s very kind and listens and understands what you are saying he try’s to find a solution for you that will work with your needs
Excellent counselor, felt non-judgemental and listened to me carefully and provided good conversational advice. I really felt a difference after 4 sessions and i'm grateful
David has been extremely helpful in helping me find ways to combat my anxiety, depression and gain confidence again. He offers very productive ways to gain insight into behaviours and analyse situations to help grasp clarity regarding the issues I brought to him. He is very attentive and a great listener, with insight from David and the worksheets to serve as a hands on way to help the situations I am positive about the future again.
He is a wonderful counselor. He is patient, kind, compassionate, and truly makes himself available.
I haven’t worked long with David but I really appreciate him and his methods. In the small amount of time we’ve been working together I’ve felt a little better and am excited to continue working with him. He’s patient and understanding and knows how to help me
David and I have only had two sessions so far but I feel we connected well. He's been great at listening to my concerns and he's already helped me change how I tackle issues. I look forward to continuing our conversations and solving problems together.
David is incredibly understanding and has great philosophies on managing anxiety and depression. He also has a great outlook. I am glad to have him as my counsellor - life has gotten a lot better since chatting with him!
The counselor is very kind & helpful, he is supporting with the appropriate tools to heal, & take you step by step through the process!
Mr. Potts has shown so much care and effort with understanding my life situation and struggles. He is insightful and continued his education about alternate lifestyles from the norm in order to be a better support for me. I greatly appreciate it.
His ability to help and support while providing an unbiased atmosphere is refreshing and healing. Thank you Mr. Potts.
David has been really kind and understanding during my sessions with him. He offers non judgemental advice, and has been really good at helping me work through some of things I'm going through slowly but surely. He has a lot of patience, and is easy to talk to.
David really listens. He has really good insight into how I deal with things and I feel like he really understands me. He helps me think of situations in new ways to better combat the issues I’m dealing with
David has been amazing! We've discussed a few of my many issues that bother me, and he's always very welcoming. We're working toward an on the phone session (I'm better behind a computer screen, not quite there yet but that's the goal). I love the worksheets he sends me and refer back to them when I'm feeling anxious. I would highly recommend David for anyone who struggles with anxiety, depression, or substance abuse/addictions.
Talking with David feels like talking with an old mate. He is a good listener, but at times comes out with aphorisms that you can get on inspirational wall hangings. To his credit, he has made me see that I am much further along in my journey than where I thought I was.
