About me

Hi! My name is Colleen. I have my Masters in Social Work with a specialization in schools. I am currently working on completing a certification to be a certified drug and alcohol counselor as I feel that is a problem that affects many students. I have been working in alternative schools for most of my career but also have worked in private practice for about 3 years. I have worked with children and teens on many issues such as anger, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and anxiety.

My approach is engaging and calm. I like to meet clients where they are at and take things at a pace they are comfortable with. I use solution based approaches, as well as dialectal behavioral therapy and cognitive therapy. I believe that everyone is different and no one approach works for all clients. I will base my approach on your specific needs.

I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals!

Colleen Muchowski is a caring, sympathetic listener who makes you feel welcome. I like her personality. I am unsure of Colleen's years of experience but I have a feeling she is still honing her therapeutic skills and can only get better. I have had therapists who are more seasoned and wiser both from age and experience but Colleen's grasp of situations is strong and I do recommend her as a therapist.

Colleen has demonstrated what the most important characteristic of a therapist SHOULD be: COMPASSION. Not only is she highly professional in every way, but I also get a strong sense that she's a really good person. Someone I would be honored top call a friend. Weekends, holidays, off hours, it doesn't matter to her. She'll respond if I indicate I'm in need of it.

Colleen is great at remembering what is going on as I am someone who has a tendency to skip around a lot. Her personal experiences have made me feel like I can trust her expertise and that things will get better. She has helped me realize my worth while providing suggestions when asked and listening and validating my feelings when I just need to vent.

Colleen is the best support I could have asked for during a very difficult time in my life. She is my perfect match as a therapist and goes above my expectations to help. She understands my mental illness and is gentle when my symptoms are worst. Also, she has the most soothing voice ever and talking with her always leaves me smiling and relieved! She’s awesome, just trust me!
