Hi, I'm Clayton Martin! I am a licensed professional counselor and I also hold a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I have been providing counseling services for seven years and have worked in a wide variety of settings. I earned my MS degree in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Counseling from Barry University in Miami, Florida and conducted my doctoral studies at the College of William & Mary in Virginia. I started my counseling career as an in-home youth and family therapist providing intensive services to the greater Ft. Lauderdale area. After completing two wonderful years in that position, I returned to my home state of Georgia where I served as an intake clinician, a DUI counselor, and a substance abuse counselor for young adults. I learned a tremendous amount from each of these experiences and I am happy to be applying my knowledge here at BetterHelp!
My counseling style is informed by Solution-Focused, Narrative , and Cognitive-Behavioral approaches. I believe that every human has all the inherent capabilities and strengths they need to deal with life's many challenges. I work with my clients first to find and strengthen their hidden abilities and then to direct those inner strengths to getting problems under control. The techniques I utilize include exercises in thought control and activities designed to put my clients' imaginations to work against their problems. You can count on me to bring a light-hearted touch and a fair amount of humor to my sessions; however, I treat all client concerns with the utmost care and professionalism.
One last note- before I became a counselor, I enjoyed a ten-year career as an actor and playwright. I brought my love for creativity and creative expression into my counseling career, and I look forward to putting my clients in touch with their senses of creativity as well!

Dr. Martin is extremely attentive and helpful. We have only been working together for a few weeks, and already I see a huge change in myself.
Clayton is very good!
Being able to contact Dr Martin whenever I am struggling has helped me immensely and I have really found our video sessions useful. I can't recommend him, or teen counseling, enough.
Doctor Martin has helped me since day 1 and I could not be happier of the improvement I have made with some of my personal problems. I am always going to be grateful for his encouragement, support and the plenty of patience given to me. Thanks Doctor Martin
Super dope, good listener. Highly recommend!
Very attentive and helpful. Does a good job of keeping us focused on the big picture with lots of tools and insights.
Clay has helped me in ways that I cannot even express. He showed me a new perspective about some family issues, and it really made a giant impact on my life. He listens, and offers great solutions to help me in my daily life.
Best quality is the fact I'm not processed. Dr. Martin actually listens to me and talks to me, not my issues or complaints. He credits me when merited and gives me guidance where applicable. He's real and that is priceless.
Dr. Martin really understood what I was going through in a very fast way, knew how to find the right solutions.
Dr. Martin is a kind and compassionate counselor. He listens very well, and provides great feedback and suggestions. He is concerned with the well being of his clients and it shows.
