I began working with adolescent females in a residential treatment facility in 1993. Clients were there for abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, behavior problems, and broken families. I also worked in residential treatment facility for teenage boys while I was working towards my Masters in Social Work from the University of Louisville where I graduated in 1999. After 1999, I worked in a psychiatric residential treatment facility for teenage girls and prepubescent boys as a counselor and a supervisor, foster care programs as a counselor and director, and a counselor for the past 15 years for children/teenagers and their families in schools and in families homes as an intensive in home counselor. I opened my private practice in 2008 and I see children and teenagers in individual and family sessions where we work on defiance, blended family issues, ADHD, bi-polar, anger, attachment problems, school problems, bullying, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, cutting, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, mood problems, autism, Asperger symptoms, and eating disorders. I use family system therapy by helping parent's increase communication with their child through therapeutic activities that include playing the family ungame where everyone answers questions while all other parties listen. I help the family process their history, family stressors, ways they have tried to cope, and how they want to get better. I help children and teenagers process their thoughts and emotions and develop coping skills and rational thought for thinking errors by using cognitive behavior therapy. I support parent's in their role as disciplinarian and work to appropriate that role in a way that is healthy and age appropriate for their child. I encourage children to be heard and have choices when needed to create autonomy and practice skills that will help them become a healthy functioning adult someday.

Christy is amazing, she provides a safe space to share my thoughts, struggles and challenges. Each week she makes me feel great after our session, sometimes It begins with me crying but her kindness and expertise turns around my perspective and I leave the session smiling and feeling like myself again.
