About me
My name is Dr. Cheri Anderson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan with over 20 years of experience as a mental health psychotherapist and an International Certified Gambling Counselor. I have a PhD in Counseling and Clinical Supervision from Wayne State University. I am trained to use Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) with trauma clients. I provide counseling services to individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing emotional pain.
I also provide Christian counseling by addressing emotional pain from a Biblical perspective- if requested by the client.
I work with teen clients who are struggling with a variety of issues, but not limited to: depression, suicidal thoughts, self-mutilation, anxiety, low-self esteem, technology addictions, gambling addiction, boundary issues, relationship issues, anger management, academic burnout, post-traumatic stress, peer pressure, isolation/loneliness, conflict resolution, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, managing stress, and life after COVID-19, I use a cadre of therapeutic modalities: client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, & EMDR.
Teens are living in a world, where there is so much pressure coming from all directions of life. Teens are being asked to make major adult life decisions, when they do not have the proper tools to handle them. I want to help the teen to "Breathe", take the time to focus on the moment, learn to recognize what is going on, learn to make healthier life choices, learn to recognize their emotions & control them, and "Breathe".
I meet clients where they are and I provide compassionate and caring emotional support. I provide clients with personalized treatment plans that help them reach their intrapersonal goals that lead towards emotional healing. Please keep in mind that emotional healing begins when you share your story.
I look forward to hearing your story and helping you along your journey to emotional healing.

Dr. Anderson has been instrumental in helping my husband and I navigate our feelings and begin rebuilding our marriage after infidelity. She is committed to helping us institute lasting skills we can use to better our marriage & continue to heal and grow together. She is amazing!
Dr. Anderson has been my therapist for 3 years. She has helped me through many breakthroughs. I had trouble finding a consistent therapist and then Dr. Anderson came along! I have learned so much and I have grown so much since meeting with Dr. Anderson!
Dr. Anderson gave worksheets, used other tools besides just talk therapy to help breakthrough. I am a completely different person than when I first started!
I was able to open up and trust Dr Anderson and follow her advice which has helped me tremendously.
Really appreciate her God based Bible believing teaching really feel her compassion and concern and is very encouraging
Dr. Anderson is a very very experienced therapist, full of wisdom and tools to help her patients.
She’s well experienced, empathetic and a great therapist
Dr. Anderson is a very professional couple's therapist. My wife and I started seeing Dr. Anderson after my wife filed a protective order against me for verbal and emotional abuse, separating me from her and our new baby boy. Our relationship has been abusive in both directions for many years. Dr. Anderson recognized the bidirectional abuse as exemplifying a "gaslighting" relationship almost immediately. Dr. Anderson has focused on our primary concerns, which are communication issues, and after 7 months of couples therapy, we have gotten rid of the PPO and we are living together as a family once again. We are planning to continue working with Dr. Anderson as we resolve our remaining communication issues. I have confidence in Dr. Anderson's ability as an extremely professional couple's therapist.
Dr. Anderson has helped me tremendously! I highly recommend her to anyone seeking understanding from childhood trauma & especially someone looking for a faith based therapist. In one year, I have gained a deeper understanding of myself and have been able to put a lot of pieces together about my life and different decisions I’ve made. I’m so thankful for her!
So happy we found Dr. Anderson as our therapist!
Dr Anderson is so knowledgeable, understanding, compassionate and positive. At a time where I am quite low, I end my sessions with hope that I can overcome
I appreciate Dr. Anderson’s Christian based counsel. I’m a Faith-filled woman who has benefited greatly from her words of wisdom influenced by the Word of God. She listens patiently as I lament on my good days and not so good days. She has given my good sound advice on alternative ways to deal with my stress, anxiety and sadness. She has given my self-care recommendations that I am working on right now, to put in place to refill my half full half empty mental and physical space.
I'm very lucky to have found Dr. Anderson!
Kind, professional, listens well. Direct and to the point.
Love love Dr. Anderson. She is amazing and her advice is always on track!
Dr. Anderson listens to me and gives me Godly counseling.
She has taught me consistently is key. When I show up to a session (even when I’m 5 mins late) I know I won’t have to feel guilty or bad, it will still be a great session. Her consistency helps grow my desire to show up for myself, even when it’s not what I want to do in the moment. I strongly encourage anyone who is having self love issues to reach out to Dr. Anderson. My experience so far has been understanding my self and personal growth. It’s been hard but worth it. (I’m not close to being finished and probably never will be). I’m thankful.
My experience with Dr. Anderson has helped me to ground myself. The time she spends in reflective listening and then offering techniques that lead me to my own conclusions is valuable and impactful. I appreciate her time and patience as well as her expertise and compassion. Dr. Anderson was a great choice!
Dr. Anderson has been an asset in my overall mental health well being. She listens to understand and helps provide me with tools designed for my strengths so I can easily implement them.

Dr. Anderson is the best! She is punctual, professional. She has such a wealth of knowledge and experience in her field. She cares about me and my well being and has really helped to challenge some of the negative thought patterns I had been dealing with for years.
Our first session went well. Dr. Anderson listed and asked questions in regards to our issues/concerns. I feel she was very personable and relatable to our concerns. She was easy to talk to and very kind! Thank you!

Dr.Anderson is amazing. It took a few tries to find a therapist who fit me. Dr.Anderson is knowledgeable, personable, hilarious and gives me valuable & practical ways to work on the issues that I bring to my sessions. Her Faith based approach (which I requested) is just what I needed. I am so happy to have found her.
