About me

I am a licensed clinical psychologist in Florida, with over 20 years of clinical and research experience. I have worked with a wide-range of age groups and am particularly interested in working with clients with family and parenting issues. As a psychologist with a specialty in Pediatric Psychology, I have specific expertise in working with parents of children with chronic and acute illnesses. As such, I also work with clients who are contemplating divorce due to difficult family situations, as well as those who need adjusting to blended families. Given my extensive research work in the area of risk prevention among adolescents, I also work with parents of teens who are engaging in risk behaviors and/or have questions regarding sexuality.

My counseling style is very open and welcoming. I believe unconditional positive regard is the hallmark of a good therapeutic relationship--judgement of past or current behaviors is not helpful to the relationship. We will focus on what you want/need to change and the exact steps for getting you there. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral therapy as well as emotion-focused therapy, which helps to gain an understanding of how emotions and attachment underlie familial and romantic relationships.
