About me

Hi! My name is Ashleigh. I am a Licensed Professional Mental Health Counselor. I hold licenses in the states of Ohio, Idaho, Nebraska, and Washington. I have over 16 years experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I have worked in private practice, crisis center, hospital and school settings. I have the most counseling experience in areas of depression, anxiety, couples therapy, identity issues, grief/loss, eating disorders/dysmorphia, family therapy and stress management.

My style of counseling is a CBT, client centered, and solution-focused. I believe in providing a safe environment as a way to encourage open communication. I will walk alongside my clients to help empower them to help themselves feel better, find hope, and reach goals.

Here is some personal information about me: I have been married for 16 years and  we have 2 young children. I was born and raised in small town Ohio, but our family recently moved to SW Florida for my husband's career. I wanted to become a counselor after the experience I had in counseling during college. As a freshman, I had an extremely difficult time coping with being away from my family and the added pressure of school, working, and being an athlete. I became anxious, withdrawn, lost my appetite, and could not sleep. My counselor helped me overcome my anxiety and improve my health and refocus.  Today I cope with stress through exercise, going to the beach, long showers, and talking openly with my spouse and closest friends.

Even before Covid-19, I left my in-person practice and decided to enter the world of online counseling. I think it is a great option for those with busy schedules, lack of transportation, a transient life-style, no babysitting, or those who feel more comfortable emailing, texting, or chatting virtually.

I would be honored to help you establish and reach your goals to create a healthier you!

You can tell Ashleigh really has a joy and a Passion for what she does, I always feel like I'm speaking to a dear friend or family member, I feel heard and I feel that i'm always moving forward alittle bit after every session. She has a fun, kind, and genuine personality. I was working through, social anxiety, unworthiness, and lack of self confidence. And Ashleigh has helped me tremendously in moving through those challenges, im feel ive taken my power back and my family has seen a positive change in me as well! She is very strong in so many areas, I Would highly recommend.

She’s awesome. I’ve only spoken through video chat 1x but really feel comfortable with her. She helped me set some small goals and just with that support I feel I had a much better week. I want to continue to work with her and learn to get myself out of this dark hole. I feel like I have a coach in my pocket with the ability to text or reach out at any time. This is such a good tool for people that struggle. So much better than doing the traditional counseling approach.

In the few short months I have been working with Ashleigh I have unpacked a lot of events and emotions from my past that have been long neglected. I was a bit nervous on how talk therapy through a computer would work since I am used to in person sessions, but I have love the flexibility and availability of Ashleigh and all the progress I have made thus far. Thank you for all the help so far!

Written on Feb 27, 2020 after therapy with Ashleigh for 1 month on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, self esteem, and adhd

Ashleigh has been wonderful. She works with me to figure out what works, and doesn't force anything. She replies in good time and doesn't discount anything I say. She checks in right when I need her to. She considers as many aspects of my history and life that she can. I am much more comfortable with her than with any other counselors. I highly recommend working with Ashleigh.

Very thankful to have been matched with Ashleigh. Even though I wasn’t dealing with anything too bad in the grand scheme of things Ashleigh didn’t make feel like my feelings weren’t valid. Focused on helping me find a solution and habits that will stick. A great support in a time of transition in my life.
