I have been been working in the mental health field for over 27 years. I currently have a Master of Arts in Community Counseling. I am a certified right response instructor as well as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have received training in techniques of various modalities of counseling. To include but not limited to, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, certification in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, family structures and systems, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy.
Much of my specialization is in dealing with teens in crisis. I am currently the program director for a local adolescent crisis program that deters youth from being removed from their homes. When crisis hits us it can be debilitating for all involved. For well over 25 years I have been going into homes, schools, community activity programs and at times the work place. This has allowed for closer relationships with many of my clients and their families. These relationships have improved the outcomes for many.
Specifically, most of my life's experience is in working with teens ages 11 to 18. Often times teens are not really heard and it is my hope to empower these teens to be able to speak for themselves in a way that allows others to listen. To build self esteem, self confidence and a hope for a better tomorrow. The idea is also to assist in discussing the roles in each family and how to improve those relationships. At times the issue may be school or some other type of extra curricular program/activity that your teen is engaged in. My job would be to look at every or any thing that may be impacting your child as well as other members in the home. Together we will work to improve the communication between all members in the home so that all feel heard and appreciated.
I also believe that I need to spend time with the guardian, perhaps alone in order to join with you and understand your expectations for your home. If needed we will work on behavior plans, positive activities and family dynamics. Family dynamics may not always be so obvious to the parent in that when we are so close to it, we can miss some important details. Perhaps you as the guardian are also struggling because you feel you have no tools in your tool bag to assist your family. My job will be to help you fill that bag with tools that will empower you to assist in growing a healthier happier family.
It is my belief that trust works both ways. It is not expected that you will want to come in and divulge your every little secret. In little time the working partnerships between counselor and family members will be established to assist in beginning your journey to a happier and healthier home. As a result of these positive relationships the home will stabilize. There will be less worry and calm where once there may have been stressors due to the situation.
Unfortunately many of life’s events lead to high anxiety, depression, defiance and a lack of motivation. Many have suffered post traumatic stress or other environmental stress factors such as drop in grades, lack of/or overly social environment, employment and economic issues. When life hits it often affects our own relationships with those we love. This is primarily because what affects one person in a group of others, often affects the others as well. This is also true of couples who may not be getting along, families who argue excessively, lack of family engagement or a child who has difficulty in a particular area.
Personally, it is my belief that in order to tackle a problem it takes more than just one problem solver. Therefore it is important to bring to the table those who support you in your everyday lives. This may include, spouses, pastors, coaches, cousins, siblings, best friends and other family members to name a few. There are many people who do not feel as though they do have a support system. The idea is to discover your support system when perhaps you think you have none. This way you will always have support and eventually diminish the need for a counselor who is not typically a part of your every day support group.
While it is important that each person strives to be the best version of themselves it is also just as important that all involved in any way have a voice. To better oneself it must be important to understand our own abilities, strengths and needs. There are times when it seems difficult to see the beautiful in our lives and this would be a great time to pull in one of your supports. Remember, the idea is to be free of counseling one day and this is how we become empowered to move forward.
In all actuality I’m a realist. That is to say that I tend to focus on why it is you are coming to see me and focusing on what it is you want to tackle in the moment. It is also very important to consider what is happening today that has caused your need to seek assistance, now. That is to say let’s keep it real. Being transparent is of utmost importance if the counseling relationship is to grow. There is nothing that will be said on my behalf that is not genuine as I believe this is how that trust grows. In the same manner it is important that you feel as if you can be transparent without judgment with your counselor.
Due to the many years of crisis counseling it is my belief that there is nothing I haven’t seen. This because during crisis is when we are also most vulnerable. During these times many will say and do things that may not have occurred minus the crisis. This is understandable so it is important that you understand there is no perfect person. The goal is to strive to feel and be a better version of yourself.
As a mental health professional the most insightful thing I have learned is that everybody is different in that they have their own thoughts and desires. However, we are all the same in that most people really do want to feel a strong sense of confidence, self esteem and in the end self actualization. The better one feels about themselves the greater the chance of improving ones circumstances. It is therefore important to understand how the past effects you and your family today (without dwelling in the past) and how to use that fact to your advantage for a better tomorrow.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Ariadna Hoots. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Awesome listener, excellent speaker. She listens but she also provides solid and objective feedback. If you can't handle the truth she may not be for you but why would you want lies? Accept the truths whether good, bad or ugly and learn to heal. She will help you on your journey. Highly recommend her.
Addy has been very helpful in a professional yet humorous way. Thanks!
She is simply outstanding
She is not just my therapist, she is my friend. She understands me and make me laugh and she made me realise that I am more than I think i am.
Said everything that I needed to hear during our sessions. So happy I was able to work with her.
I was scared because I didn't know what to expect. I'm so used to being verbally abused. But, Ariadna Hoots was so kind, supportive, loving and thoughtful. I certainly didn't expect that!!! She made me feel secure, protected and comfortable. I am looking forward to our next session.

I’m in a pretty bad place now, Ari does a great job in helping me focus on what I need to do and how to handle the situation I’m in. I feel blessed to have her during this time.
Ari is a fantastic counselor and I would recommend her to anyone. I've only had two sessions with her so far and I am positive that she is going to help me change my life, because she's already doing it. Firstly, her level of commitment and investment in me has been unprecedented in my experience with other counselors. She's tough when necessary but always kind, helps you see the truth, and helps you to change you so that the relationships and world around you will also change. She really gets to know you and always spends the necessary time with you in the sessions. She is really a force to be reckoned with and I would highly recommend her to anyone I know!
She is insightful and very caring and honest
Ari has been a huge help! She challenges me to think of things from a different perspective.
I would reccommend Ariana for everyone who needs someone whom you can build trust in no time. She is always actively lisening, not directly giving you advice, but makes you realize the right steps, and you can be sure that she remembers why you are here and she keeps her focus on guiding you to a better life.
Ariadna is an incredible counselor and is truly a blessing! She seeks to understand who you truly are, what your goals and passions are, what you want to overcome, and the why behind it all. She is realistic in addressing challenges but also says exactly what you need to hear in order to take the steps to overcome them. She speaks truth into your life, and is so passionate about helping you. I am so grateful for her, and her desire to seek God’s wisdom through it all.
I absolutely love her! She helps me to see things from a variety of different perspectives. She has been teaching me the importance of self love. And putting my needs first. Suggest her to anyone ❤️
She is awesome
