About me

Therapy can often be a daunting and scary process for individuals. "What if my therapist doesn't understand me? Does this mean I have a problem? What if it doesn't help?"
I aim to provide a nurturing, nonjudgmental, compassionate, and supportive environment to support you with all the difficulties life may throw in your path. I like to use a multi-faceted approach tailored to the unique needs of YOU and to best help you with whatever you are struggling with. I believe that change happens when one is given the guidance to draw on your own strengths and realize your potential to live a fulfilling, happy life. I integrate various models of therapy throughout my work including (but not limited to): person-centered, a "here-and-now" approach focusing on present feelings, developmental, strengths-based, and mindfulness techniques.

With adolescents, these years can be daunting and frustrating, both for teens and their parents. I have worked with children and adolescents in a school setting for the last 6 years, and think the best thing for a teen can be to have someone to listen to. Teenagers often feel nobody understands them, so I aim to listen, hear where they are coming from, and build a relationship from there. I have worked with teenage clients on a multitude of issues, including substance use, depression/anxiety, transitions to college, self-harming behaviors, eating disorders, ADHD, anger management, and bipolar disorder, to name a few.

I have been a practicing psychotherapist in New York City for over 10 years and have recently moved to Hawaii. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both New York and Hawaii, with a Masters Degree in Social Work from Columbia University and a dual Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Social Work from New York University. I also hold a certification in Child & Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Metropolitan Institute for Training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Finally, I am a registered, certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Counselor.

I absolutely love Andrea. She really is able to help me elaborate more on issues and problems in a way that doesn't feel like i'm repeating myself or that we are going in circles. I'm so glad to have her. I get into these bursts of emotions, and seeing someone in person is difficult as my schedule is tentatively sporadic and my moods change too quick for me to keep that insight into a future session.

She takes the time to listen to you. She finds quizzes and worksheets for you to do to help make you work on yourself better. She is an amazing women who finds the problem in your situation and focuses on the main source until it's resolved. I've had her for almost a year and the first time I started she welcomed me with open arms.
