About me

I have a special fondness for teens, and I've worked with children and families since shortly after high school, both in inner city and rural northern Michigan environments. During my peace corps service in Kingston, Jamaica I ran a youth leadership program that included summer camp and a leadership retreat. I've taught life skills classes, art therapy, music therapy, and yoga for teens. Family relationships are a primary theme of treatment, but also developing critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and self-esteem building skills. I view the teen years of development as one of the most exciting life stages because teens are preparing to launch into adulthood and live independently. I personally had no idea what that meant as a teen and it gives me great joy to coach others through the process.

Amy is a godsend, using a conversational approach to therapy so it's like you're talking to a friend vs a person in a white coat. This is my very first therapy experience and she has done an amazing job at listening intently and being sensitive to all of my needs and validating things I've done right in times of self doubt. You're in good hands
