About me
Thank you for being here and for visiting my profile. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) in the state's of Maryland, Arizona and Massachusetts . I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Albany, New York in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I have 9 years of experience in a non-public special education setting as a social worker and 10 years of experience working with young adults with disabilities.
I'm particularly knowledgeable about assisting adolescents and young adults who struggle with developmental and intellectual disabilities especially autism as well as health conditions and illness, grief and loss, bereavement issues, school/peer/bullying issues, trauma, abuse, depression and anxiety. I enjoy working with teens from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
I often incorporate a holistic, integrative approach meaning that I draw from multiple modalities including cognitive behavioral, trauma-informed and strengths-based. From my viewpoint as a clinician, human functioning and behavior stem from many life experiences and aspects of our lives: psychological, cognitive biological/physical/medical, genetic, developmental, familial, social, educational/employment/career, spiritual, cultural and societal.
In addition to my employment, I've volunteered as a girl scout troop leader for 13 years as well as taken on an active role in youth mission trips and leadership roles within my church.
My co-workers describe me as hard working, collaborative, compassionate, empathetic and the desire to go above and beyond for the students and families that I work with.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Amy Freeman. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Amy is a great therapist. I’m so glad I found her on teen counseling.
Amy has been extremely helpful for our relationship. She listens and genuinely cares about our relationship. I would highly recommend her to others.
Great
Amy has been very helpful as a neutral party for my me and my wife to work out our problems. She has offered very insightful advice and has been available between scheduled meetings to offer advice which has been very helpful and appreciated.

Amy is very easy to talk and open up to and is very helpful when it comes to new coping skills and ways to help ease my mind.
I have seen a handful of councilors over the years and Amy is by far my favorite. She is always ready to help, remembers what I tell her, supports me, and offers amazing advice! I am beyond grateful to be seeing Amy every week. She has helped me overcome several obstacles and grow tremendously.
Amazing! Very insightful, caring and always gives great advice and feedback
Amy has been monumental in my quest to address my mental health. She is always ready to listen and offers great insight into every situation. I have been in and out of therapy for a long time and my time with her has been the most productive!
I recommend Amy to anyone who is dealing with PTSD, Anxiety, and Trauma. Her approach is gentle and empathic. She wants to help you to understand what is happening rather than rushing you to milestones. She creates a safe and accepting space to support working on your processes and rethink your current approaches. She achieves this while making you feel sane.
The support from Amy has allowed me to grow in so many ways and help me cope with my anxiety. I hope to continue our patient and therapist relationship long-term.
Amy is thoughtful, kind and invested in my child.
Any is amazing. She is helpful and provides a great listening ear. I am always excited to get to our sessions!
Amy has been such a great support in the difficult times I’m going through, we talk out situations and find the best way to navigate through them.
Amy is great!
Amy was extremely helpful and exactly the kind of gentle hand I think we needed. I was skeptical of therapy at first. But, Amy's consistent and gentle approach to having us talk about and explore our situation ended up being very helpful. Thank you again, Amy. We wish you all the best.
Amy is a wonderful counselor! I’ve been through 2 counselors on here already and when I landed amy it was a perfect match! She’s helped me soooo much in just a few short weeks I’ve known her! I’m still a work in progress but I know with Amy I’ll get there!
So far, Amy has been very understanding and helpful in dealing with my difficulties. I really appreciate her impartial evaluation.
