About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), am licensed and currently live in the state of Colorado, although I also maintain my LCSW licensure in Texas. I studied at the University of Texas at Austin for both my undergraduate (BSW) and graduate degrees (MSSW) in Social Work. Since graduating with my Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) in 2003, I have worked with couples, families, and children in a variety of settings, to include non-profit organizations, schools, hospitals, and for the military.

Through my previous work as a school social worker and as a family therapist, I also have experience working with teens and adolescents, addressing the unique issues they face, such as increasing self-awareness and identity, navigating relationships and friendships, bullying, and even processing their direction as they plan for their futures. I am passionate about helping families resolve conflict and improve or sustain healthy relationships between parents and children.

I believe one of the most important and key indicators of successful treatment is the therapeutic relationship, so it is important to me to build trust and ensure that working together is the right fit.

Aimee has been an amazing helping hand! She is very versatile and accommodating to my needs. She has taken the time out to understand my issues and provide strategies on helping me. I have been working with Aimee for over a year and she has provided a much needed sounding board as I work through long standing issues, but also things that pop up in every day life. I look forward to our weekly sessions and I also like that I can send her updates throughout the week if I want.

Aimee has been a wonderful resource for me. I have become far more encouraged in my ability to handle things, tackle things in my life as they arrive. She empowers me to be the best version of myself while reminding me its okay to not have it "all together". She is kind, she listens, and gives me active and productive things to work towards to improve my life and mental well being.

Written on Jul 19, 2020 after therapy with Aimee for 2 months on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, intimacy-related issues, self esteem, and anger management

Aimee is a wonderful counselor with a lot of empathy and insight. I feel like she really listens and understands which sometimes is all we need and she always has great advice. She also proactively communicates rather than waiting for me to reach out probably knowing that when her patients are doing poorly, they won't have the energy to reach out. I highly recommend her.

From her first response, I knew she was a strong and tempered soul. I have weathered my storm, but it feels like mine is only a part of what she's seen and while I carry my story under my chin and on my shoulders, I already feel at ease sharing my troubles with this person.

I've had problems getting out of bed for almost 10 years. I'm doing CBT with Aimee Edwards-Hunter for just over two weeks. I've noticed my ingrained beliefs starting to change with the use of logic from Aimee. I think I'll be sleeping a normal eight hours every night soon enough If you want to do a CBT course, I recommend her.

Aimee has been fantastic! I have been working on building my confidence and getting my anxiety levels better after going through a divorce. She is very smart, listens, cares about the people she helps, and has words of wisdom that definitely is worth listening too. I appreciate all she has done for me and recommend her to anyone that is going through anything that they need help with or would just like to improve upon themself. Thanks Aimee!
