Hello! My name is Abraham Knowles and am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience in Florida. I earned my Master’s degrees in Social Work and Public Health from the University of South Florida in 1995. I have since worked as a school social worker and also have worked in a variety of other fields including community mental health, substance abuse, and home health.
I have worked with clients in a variety of modalities including individual, group, and family counseling as well as case management. I draw from a variety of counseling approaches but mostly cognitive behavioral and humanistic/ client centered therapies. I have helped clients with many presenting problems especially depression, anxiety, and trauma.
My approach through the BetterHelp platform involves individual sessions and messaging with the teenager, conjoint sessions with the parent and child to improve relationships, and guidance to the parent through messaging and sessions to help best parent and improve the relationship. To best make improvements, I keep what that the teen shares confidential although I will encourage the adolescent to share important issues and will directly share any serious life-threatening or caregiver abuse/ neglect issues.
Outside of my work as a therapist/ social worker, I enjoy reading, movies, and theater and spending time with my wife (married 28 years), son (22), daughter (18), and grandson (1) at their various activities. I have been a volunteer with my church’s youth group for over 20 years.
It takes courage to seek support to work through difficult issues and I’m proud of you and your teen for taking that first, very important step. I love listening to and supporting people through difficult circumstances and working with them to develop and implement a plan for improvement. I would love to work with your child and you to provide support and assistance as you both work toward symptom reduction, confidence, improved relationships, life purpose, and positive change.

He listens and he has helped through this rough time.
Still getting to know him and teencounseling.com as well, but I have the impression that he and the platform does a great job. Abraham is very willing to listen and reads all my texts. He is empathetic and non-judgmental in the way he doesn’t beat me down over my problems I share with him. I feel very safe sharing my thoughts with him knowing that honesty is key.
Working with Abraham is so relaxing helpful . I fell like talking with a best friend or brother he s a very good listener and pay attention on every single details and words he give good idea and solutions i ve start with him weeks ago but i weight his session weekly
Abraham has all of the relaxation of speaking to a regular person, while ticking all the right official boxes of addressing your issues and not just chit chatting. It is a very comfortable way to make progress at your own pace without feeling obligated. Also I don't feel judged whiled speaking with him.
