About me

Working with teens and young adults presents a unique set of challenges. In addition to the issues of adjustment, self-esteem, trauma from abuse, neglect or abandonment, today's teens have a fresh set of challenges. Social media, electronics and unlimited access to the internet have led to more issues for struggling teens and exacerbated the old ones. I have worked with teens and their parents for over 30 years both as a therapist and high school counselor. Not only have I worked with teens to develop treatment plans, I have worked with their parents to provide seamless care. My approach to therapy is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The treatment plans that we develop will be based on your individual needs and symptoms. An important part of the work that I have done is assisting teenagers with transition issues including mental health, education, and career issues. I have been able to build close working relationships with teens and their parents. If you believe that my years of experience and expertise seem like a good match, I look forward to meeting with you.

I've only had a couple of sessions, but so far I've been given nothing but kindness, understanding and support. This is my first time seeking therapy of any sort as an adult and any apprehensions I had were quickly put to rest by Paul. He presents himself confidently and his friendly disposition makes him easy to work with.

Paul is an excellent therapist that I would recommend without hesitation. I feel safe sharing and talking without fear of judgement or misunderstanding. Paul is fantastic at listening, expressing compassion, sharing genuine interest or concern, and offering realistic solutions and steps to take to overcome obstacles or difficulties. He encourages and praises regularly even if I feel I'm not making the progress I want and it helps me keep life in perspective.
