About me
Adolescents, teens and young adults are often overlooked in the importance of their mental and emotional health. Their perspectives, values and goals may differ from previous generations making the world, relationships, and self difficult to navigate. With positive, compassionate, non-judgmental therapeutic support their journey through this scaffolding stage of development can be easier, more focused, and a healthy foundation for independent adulthood.
I am a Doctor of Behavioral Health licensed as an LPC in Colorado with over 10 years of experience working as a psychotherapist and integrated behavioral/mental health provider with patients across the lifespan. I have supported the health and mental/behavioral health clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, family/parent problems, and homelessness. Additionally, I have helped many people who have experienced mental/physical trauma and abuse.
My therapy style is trauma informed and patient centered; non-judgmental and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach is an eclectic mix of trauma informed, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior therapy, motivational therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.
I look forward to working with you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Pamela Shannahan-Sturgon. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Teen Counseling might be different.
Very devoted therapist that has her patients well being at heart
Excellent provider! We really like her and feel like she is very knowledgeable!
Dr. Shannahan-Sturgon is second to none. She is everything one would hope a therapist would be: Experienced, warm, understanding, flexible, and a calming presence who is extremely skilled at working through the parts that seem unsolvable. I am so thankful we found her!
She is very professional so helpful and very easy to trust also I feel she is helping so well with my son
She is wonderful.
Dr. Shannahan-Sturgon has been immensely helpful and we greatly appreciate all of her expertise and knowledge with addressing any and all of our concerns. We believe that we have become stronger in our relationship, and as individuals, from after only a month
Dr. Shannahan-Sturgon is the most helpful therapist I’ve had in years (I’ve gone through three in the last year). She listens carefully and asks questions to get me thinking about my behaviors and reactions to situations to help me cope with and heal my CPTSD (which she has helped me reframe as PTSR (“response” as opposed to “disorder”)). Always kind and never judgmental, she is truly an advocate for me.
Working online with Dr. Shannahan-Sturgon has been great. She is a very caring therapist, and seeing her by video has been very convenient. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
