About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Missouri with over ten years of experience as a therapist. I have worked with adults and adolescents with severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, ODD, ADD/ADHD, and marriage and family therapy.

I believe every person should have access to quality mental health services regardless of race, religion, socio-economic status, lifestyle, or other demographic. While I have training in many therapeutic styles, my approach closely resembles person-centered therapy and psychodynamic therapy techniques. I feel that if we understand our past and come to terms with it through self-actualization, we can live a more fulfilling life.

I have extensive training and experience working with teens with dual diagnosis (substance abuse and depression for example) in a residential substance abuse treatment facility and as a school-based therapist.

Katy is an amazing professional, and my time with her was the most successful mental health therapy I've had so far. She's empathetic, insightful, and always has the right tool and angle to help me examine situations I'm in and my next steps. Katy, I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me!

I look forward to my weekly sessions. It's like getting this weighted balloon off my chest and she's helped me work through a lot of past issues as I deal with the new.

I have been working with Katie Hamilton for well over a year now, she’s always there when I need someone to talk to and always put a new spin on any issue I happen to have. I strongly and highly recommend this lady. She is an excellent listener, an awesome communicator, and it’s been a long time since I’ve had such a good counsellor that I have felt at home with.

I have found Katy to be honest, helpful, positive, knowledgeable & friendly. I don't feel like I'm being judged or criticized. I've only had a few emails and a couple of chat sessions as per my request and I am very happy with the way things are progressing. I highly recommend Katy.

Katy is absolutely amazing. She is the best therapist I have found, and I have spent 4+ years looking for one. She listens to how I feel, she provides amazing feedback and she 100% knows what she is talking about. She has helped me through my lowest points, and I honestly do not know what I would do without her. Every week I look forward to our conversations. She is extremely kind and caring, and if I could recommend any therapist, Katy would be the one. Thank you for everything you do for me.

Katy has been wonderful. She’s responsive to messaging and is really helping me in our teletherapy sessions. She understands how my anxiety works and always takes that into account in our sessions, and helps me to find better ways to accept the feelings but then cope with the appropriately.

Katy’s empathy, sharpness of insight, and practical takeaways make her one of the most effective counselors I’ve ever worked with (and I’ve worked with quite a few). Thank you, Katy, for helping me make wiser decisions!

I’m literally just signing on to ask her if I can refer my sister to her. Would 12/10 refer her to anyone! I think she is great and I enjoy our sessions.

Having Katy Hamilton as a counselor was a blessing, she helped me understand that my trauma does not define who I am and I can use it as a way to empower and help others that have gone through similar situations as me instead of using it to put myself down. I went from a person that was a afraid of everything and everyone around me to a person who is not afraid to stand up for what I believe in. She is honest and will tell you things how it is which is what many people need in order to get better having a counselor is like a parent teaching their child how to ride a “big kid bike”, they’ll guide you and give you a push to move forward, you might fall and get hurt a couple times but it is you who decides if you Who decides whether or not you want to keep your old bike or move on to the new one .

Katy is the first counselor I've had in years who actually understood anything I wanted to say. She is open-minded, always looking to learn more about what's important to you, and willing to share her own experiences. Katy is not the kind of counselor to force you down one road either- I had concerns about certain types of therapy and she was more than happy to work with me while still offering guidance. She actually gives you her opinion- and doesn't even think hers is the only valid opinion (although her opinion is one of very few that I deeply trust and respect). She is hands-down the BEST counselor I've ever had and I would recommend her to anyone, especially people with eating disorders, chronic illnesses, and a history of trauma and exclusion.

Katy is phenomenal. I was in a very dark place for a while and Katy helped me realize and understand so many things about my past/upbringing that really helped to reassure me of my self-worth and get me back on solid ground. I don’t know how she does it but she is always able to help me through all of my problems, even the ones I think are impossible.

I have been working with Katy for 5 months and the changes I can see in myself have been amazing. Katy listens and tells you what you need to hear. Sometimes it is hard to hear certain things, but she doesn’t sugar coat and truly wants to see the best version of you. I highly recommend Katy to anyone.

Katy is very competent and dedicated as a counselor. Every time we speak I feel she hears me and deeply cares for me, for the sake of me and my own “betterment” and progress in life. I very much appreciate her cleverness and sharp intelligence. Yes, I feel with Katy I can ‘move on.’

Work with me!
