About me
I am honored to be a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington state and have a private practice, Beacon of Light Family Counseling in Yakima WA. I have over 12 years of experience working with children as young as 7 years old. I enjoy working with adolescents, couples, individuals and families. In 1999 I received my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Washington in Psychology and in 2002 I received my Master of Arts degree from Antioch University, Seattle in Couple and Family Therapy.
My practice has evolved over time towards more evidence-bases approaches such as, Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused Therapy. These orientations best serve trauma, depression, anxiety and behavioral issues, co-parenting, blending families, marital and familial conflicts, life transitions and grief/loss.
I use a client centered approach in therapy in which I strive to create a comfortable, non-judgmental and empathic environment for my client. You are beginning what I hope will be a meaningful counseling experience. I have a passion and desire to bring hope to those who are hurting. Again, may I welcome you and be of service to you on your journey towards growth and healing.

Jennifer is such a sweet and gentle soul that I am so lucky to have in my life now!
She listens and is very sympathetic and if you are open to hear her advise and apply it to your life how ever you can it helps
I've had such a wonderful experience with Jennifer. I had never done any sort of therapy before and she was so kind and reassuring. I have some social anxiety and don't like talking to new people, but I didn't feel that way about talking to Jennifer, it felt like talking to a friend. I would definitely recommend her!
Jennifer is very good at listening and letting her clients find their own way, while offering insight and input when appropriate. She helped me a lot during a very difficult time and I found her to be very genuine and practical.
Jennifer has an absolute heart of gold! She is very kind and understanding, gentle and compassionate. She helped give voice to some of my dark experiences and offered various ways to process and re-frame those memories. I am truly grateful for my time spent with her.
She has been a great help in a difficult time and has been very attentive to my mental health needs
